The Org Official Sci-Fi Thread™

Let's try not to spoil anything for anyone:

So, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is out, and The Orville: New Horizons has released its first episode of season three on Hulu.

Also, Obi Wan Kenobi released its first two premiere episodes last Friday, and now airs regularly on Wednesday for its duration.

I'm loving all of these shows. There is so much to explore between Revenge of the Sith and Rogue One and/or A New Hope. These mini-series are so much fun.

The Mandalorian will be back in February 2023.

ST:SNW is a great romp every week. There are some multi-episode story archs, but I dig the "story of the week" approach of TOS and TNG.

Another couple of Star Wars series are due out later this year and early next year.

By the way, did anyone watch Marvel's Moon Knight?

I just finished Stranger Things, for now. The last two episodes are out in one month's time.

I'm going to remain about Star Wars as I've always been, silent. I will watch Obi Wan. I finished struggling thru S2 Picard. It's nice they gave this crew a nice send off, but it’s S3 I'm waiting for. Haven't gotten to Strange New World yet but will. I couldn't complete Moon Knight and will not try. I'm for The Boys. Loved The Secret of Dumbledore hope Johnny comes back. Keep hearing Ezra got fired from future projects but haven't looked into it.

I have to say, S2 of Picard is far and above better than S1. But S3 is promising to be great.

Moon Knight felt confusing at first, but it does get together with itself half way through and it's a fun story.

SNW tonight was a bit more fun. A take of Freaky Friday, but I won't say with who; there were two very different storylines going on, too.

I am excited for The Boys S3, but I may wait until, at least, one of these others are over.

I've not watched Dumbledore yet, but I plan to this weekend.

Not sure about The Flash situation, but I did see this hysterical meme recently:

I should've also thrown in Stranger Things. I will edit.

Agreed, Moon knight was confusing at first. But it all comes together near the end. I had a feeling there was a 3rd personality. There was that one point where the 2 personalities didnt know who killed the thug guy(s) , but it was blown off and quickly forgotten. I figured there'd be a cameo or something near the end, but ok that there wasnt one.

I go into these tv shows knowing there are infact tv shows, not some $300 million plus budget movie. But I do hope She Hulk cgi isn't that bad.
I guessing these shows are introductions to characters who potentially might have bigger parts later. Either way I'm enjoying them so far. They remind me of my comic book days.

I been sitting on Obi Wan. Maybe tomorrow night. So I will avoid reading any spoliers. If you all post any I will try to over look them.

Still haven't watch Fantastic Beast 3 either. I heard it was good

Oh Stranger Things!.
Watched it. Sucks we have to wait for it to come back. I read online that the reason was because they are not done working on the episodes. Which brings me to some of the plastic looking CGI, I noticed it in some scenes. Antwho around episode 4 i was wondering if I like the season so far. hmmm But then I couldn't stop watching lol

I watched one episode one night of Stranger Things. Then watched the second the next night. By night three, I was blaring through all of them, sans the last one available. I wanted to be wide awake the next night for that one. I wasn't disappointed.

She-Hulk looks absolutely ridiculous. I doubt I'll really watch it. Even the current Hulk in the MCU looks a bit silly. But if they're going to CGI it, I suppose it'll always look a bit more fake than it should.

I'm not sure if Stranger Things is waiting because they're not done or what. But they announced a long while ago that it was going to come in two volumes like this. I sorta think they don't want everyone spoiling the ending, so they're saving the last two episodes to come out at once, giving everyone a good six weeks to watch volume one.

I guess Kate Bush was #1 on the iTunes charts because of the season.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Thank for finishing the Obi thing but I wrote it that way purposely. We all understand whhat I was referencing.

I wasn't feeling S2 especially playing on ST movie 4 concept, that bus scene, eck, and it bought up questions for me that will go unanswered and thst impacts my overall enjoyment.

I've come to the conclusion that there are so many superhero shows out now that the storylines are geared more to satisfying those who have been fans of comic books for years, as oppose to drawing the general audience like me. so my interest is waning. If it takes too much of my time to get interested I'm most likely not going to complete it. So I doubt I'll ever revisit Moon Knight. It seems to have captured its audience though, so yay for that. Sounds like a win.

I can't hold out for the boys like that so I will start it this weekend.

From what I'm reading there's a plan for more FB series even though there's no books. The movie itself was ended in a way there could easily be more storylines with this cast. That's the only spoiler I'm giving.
The Fantastic Beasts film series was initially speculated to be a trilogy, but in October 2016, Rowling announced that the series would be composed of five films, later confirming that the story of the series would consist of a sequence of events that occurred between the years of 1926 and 1945.

Now if the ever growing buzz about Stargate's return is true I'm all in for that. And The Expanse movie.

I totally agree about that bus scene. I suppose I let it slide because they were going back in a timeline. But even the last Star Trek movie was a reinterpretation of The Wrath of Khan. I think it's sorta what stalled the franchise for a hot second.

I seen this in my feed
Stranger Things Producer Explains Delay Between Season 4 Volume 1 & 2
https://www.google.com/am...delay/amp/

We didn’t think nine episodes were going to be ready in time, and we have made the world wait long enough. We always knew that if we could deliver the first seven, it’s such a satisfying breaking point and pay-off moment, that it’ll keep people fed for enough weeks so we can finish up volume two.

I figured it all be done by now. In the trailers you can see footage from future episodes. Anywho they are probably still editing stuff

I saw the trailer. It looks like my kind of weird. RT gave it 95%. Not that RT makes my decisions. Still the odds are good it'll be worth my time. I may not go this weekend now that I see it's in mainstream theaters. Landmark isn't, so next week isn't a guarantee it'll be there

I'd have a hard time recommending it as well, but that's only because it's so different than anything I can compare it to.

I am loving Strange New Worlds but they broke cannon with Spock and T’pring having a sexual relationship. I do believe Vulcans a need intimacy, but to express it physically as often as Humans or Andorrans? Seems to suggest they don’t control their emotions.

Yeah, but if it's 10 years before TOS, it could be an evolutionary or social trait that develops more over the next decade.

Because of your post I decided to watch it.👍
Im enjoying it. I think I'm on episode 5 or 6.
I have a guess what's going on. Maybe an worm hole alternative universe and or time travel, still not sure who the girl is, maybe his sister. Definitely some twilight zone stuff going in. Oh, the girl is creepy as hell.

No spoliers please lol.

No spoilers. I'll just tell you by the season's end you'll know what the hole is, who the girl is and what the buffalo is. Then there'll be other mysteries.

So, we've since watched Night Sky. It's good, and it's prime for a season two.

Obi Wan Kenobi is still good, especially tonight's episode.

I actually watch The Orville: New Horizons before Strange New Worlds.

Finished up Barry on Sunday. Whoa. That's a hell of a cliffhanger.

I read that the final two episodes of Stranger Things will be close to four hours; 1:25 and 2:30, described as "cinematic." I'm curious to see what's next in the Stranger Things universe with a whole new set of people.

I'm current with The Boys. It feels really dark and sinister on Homelanders part.

Not Sci-Fi, but I still have P Valley to get back into. Halo is on my list, too.

Also, I saw confirmation that The Handmaid's Tale is due back in September.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Strange New World. Let me go ahead and get it out the way even though I'm only 4 episodes in (The Gorn). They went a bit over the top on Uhura but I get it, decades of complaining takes a lot to adjust so I'll be patient, it seemed to only lasted the 1st 2 episodes anyway. The guy doing Spock is doing a good job, nobody can be Nimoy mimicking his little idiosyncrasies, but the Vulcan style is on spot, I hear Spock when he speaks, that's satisfying. I like they gave more insight to his engagement. Pike is representng the TOS (60s) captain style, amusing, but he's in a committed relationship so not a lot boinking every female alien that crosses his path. A lot of women in the main cast I guess it's 50/50. Huge bridge, I'm guessing like it was in (ST2-3) the earlier movies, it'sbeen a while. I like Hemmer the Engineer with his grumpy blind self. Interesting the Security officer favors Drummer from the Expanse so much I almost though it was the same actor. The opening is pretty good, capturing a feel from all the ST series in small ways.
If they can stop continuously rearranging the ST characters like they don't rearrange the SW characters for creative reason, we'll be good.

Just as a note, "The guy doing Spock" is Ethan Peck, Gregory Peck's grandson. While he does have Spock's timber, I just hearh is grandfather in his voice so much. Which is fine by me.

I'm really enjoying it overall. This week's episode was particularly fun and interesting.

Finally saw it. And I enjoyed the heck out of it. I found the storyline easy to follow. In fact I enjoyed this multiverse a lot more than Dr. Strange. So much was going on but it didn't stray off track. Jaime Lee Curtis was funny as heck. Great action. I felt Evelyn from minute one, I kinda envy her journey. Definitely worth a rewatch, a few times.

Nice. But I don't hear Gregory. I'm guessing this is tying in to some event that happened on Discovery but not too much for those who aren't watching that series. I see I need to go back I missed some bits. I guess Pike is a free agent, the boinking of aliens commences. I like the series. Feels like home.
