Gilbert Gottfried has passed away Variety says, in part, Comedians and other Hollywood talent are paying tribute on social media to Gilbert Gottfried. The comedian’s family announced April 12 that he had died at age 67 following a long illness. Gottfried was known for his iconic shrill voice and beloved for his crude comedic style. His most famous screen role was voicing the parrot Iago in Disney’s “Aladdin.” “Seinfeld” actor Jason Alexander wrote on Twitter, “Gilbert Gottfried made me laugh at times when laughter did not come easily. What a gift. I did not know him well but I loved what he shared with me. My best wishes and sympathy to his family.” Gottfried’s family wrote in a statement, “We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Gilbert Gottfried after a long illness. In addition to being the most iconic voice in comedy, Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend and father to his two young children. Although today is a sad day for all of us, please keep laughing as loud as possible in Gilbert’s honor.”
Oscar winner Marlee Matlin wrote, “I am so sad to read about the passing of Gilbert Gottfried. Funny, politically incorrect but a softie on the inside.” [Edited 4/12/22 13:16pm] Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Very funny guy. My childhood wouldn't have been the same without him. Aladdin, Problem Child, Look Who's Talking Too and Beverly Hills Cop 2. Not to mention his role as Mister Mxyzptlk in Superman: The Animated Series.

He was at his best on the Howard Stern Show. So many classic appearances....his impersonations were spot-on. Sometimes I'd see him walking on 5th Avenue here in NYC. His knapsack was almost as big as he was. R.I.P.

I loved him on USA Up All Night with Rhonda Shear and The Howard Stern Show. He was at his funniest during Robin's news, constantly interrupt her which was hilarious. He hadn't been on the show in 10 years because Howard became Hollywood Howie. There is a documentary about him from a few years ago worth checking out called Gilbert which showed what a loving husband, father and brother he was. The scenes with his cancer stricken sister were heartbreaking. RIP Gilbert. [Edited 4/13/22 9:53am]

He was great in The Aristocrats. I also loved his Seinfeld impression. I remember watching him guest hosting Friday Night Videos (or was it a regular gig?). I actually thought he was cute. Is that weird? Fun to see him on SNL in that disastrous year without Lorne Michaels. Mainly for his big hair.
