The bank accidentally credited $9,200 to my checking account. I went to the cashmachine today to withdraw $40 from my checking account today and when the receipt printed up it showed my balance at $9,931.40.
I was a little shocked being as I don't have more then $700 or $800 in my account, but I figured something was wrong with the printer on the machine or something. I got home and called the phone number to check my balance and once again it said I had $9,931.40. Apparantly I made a $9,200 deposit on Saturday I'm quite sure I would remember something like that I have no plans to spend the money as I know that banks ALWAYS find errors and if the money is gone you have to pay them back. Tomorrow I will call them and see if we can figure out the error, but tonight I might be tempted to buy something nice

I wish I wish, but banks always find errors. One time I was credited with some money and they found the error the next day. One time a cash machine gave me an extra $15 and about a week later the bank deducted it from my account.

Our bank once transposed my BANK ACCOUNT number with
our BALANCE AMOUNT... I was a millionaire for about a minute... I still have the bank slip too... $9,200 should keep you in the NPGMC's good graces for this year... Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Ever hear of the guy who deposited a $95,000 junk mail "check"... and it cashed?
http://www.goodthink.com/...tents.html It's a good read. The legal stuff is especially interesting to me, because I studied the law of negotiable instruments (such as checks) in law school. Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |

Way to be at the right bank at the right time. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

That happened to me once too. I had over 5 grand in the bank, even though I know I only deposited 2500.
They corrected it the very next day... but, there is that tingly feeling of "what if" they didn't. |

Tomorrow I will call them and see if we can figure out the error, but tonight I might be tempted to buy something nice I used to do a little scam with my bank, and they would bust me every time, but it was a quick cheap way of "borrowing" money to pay bills, LOL. This was back when I was 19 and making crap wages. Say I had like 200 bucks in my account, I would withdraw 195 bucks from the teller (leaving a few dollars in there to keep the account open). Then I would immediately get in my car and drive over to the Mac machine there and withdraw another 195 bucks. The problem was the manual transaction I did with the teller wouldn't show up on my account instantly, so the funds were still available for withdrawl from my Mac card. A couple days later someone would call me to notify me that my account was negative and politely ask me to pay it off, LOL. I've also been on other side of this issue though. A couple months ago when I was withdrawing money from my savings, the balance seemed off. Sure enough I checked my other reciepts and it was off by $220. I called the bank to figure out what happened and apparently a Teller had accidentally keyed in my account number when someone came in to withdraw $220 from their account. I've gotten used to my balance always being off by 5 or 10 bucks because theres always some stupid hidden transaction fees they charge. But this one really caught my attention lol.

I just read this whole story; VERY interesting. I'd never heard about this, probably because of the OJ trial. There are quite a few nuggets of "life experience" that can be pulled from this story. I'll see you tonight..

As many of us thought the bank found the error by themselves and my account is back to normal. I am no longer rich
To SuperC: I think i would need to have more then $9,200 before I cashed out and split. I mean that would last like 4 months...Maybe if it were like 9,000,000. To Endorphine: Damn, no super Me-N-U Apolis party for us
