NFL Offseason Teams in the AFC are upping the ante. They want to dethrone the KC Chiefs although the Bengals got them this year. Teams are still looking at KC as the measuring stick in the AFC. Damn Cleveland just traded for DeShaun Watson. Denver and the Chargers loaded up last week. Former Steelers receivers JuJu Smith-Schuster and James Washington have signed with KC and Dallas respectively. Don't laugh at my funk

Longtime NFL reporter John Clayton passes away at 67 R.I.PJohn Clayton covered the NFL for five decades. He was on the beat for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Seattle Seahawks, he was an NFL insider for ESPN, he was an award-winner, most recently hosted The John Clayton Weekends show, and was the centerpiece of one of the most memorable ESPN commercials of all time. Known as "The Professor," Clayton was a much-respected and beloved figure in the NFL media world who passed away after a brief illness, the Seahawks announced. He was 67. "He was kind to everyone and from the minute I started covering the NFL, he made me feel welcome and offered tips on who to get to know," NFL Media's Judy Battista said. "He was the first person to call me when it was announced I was coming to the NFL Network and his advice about doing TV was classic: 'Just talk like we talk in the press box.' He loved the job. Loved hitting every training camp while the rest of us were on fumes — he did two camps per day a lot. But mostly I am thinking about his devotion to his wife Pat, and how he cared for her during her own health issues. The last time I talked to him was for his podcast and we spent most of our time talking off air about Pat — he was happy that day because she was coming home from the hospital after a brief stay. I'm thinking about her tonight." A Pennsylvania native, Clayton, who won the 2007 Bill Nunn Jr. Award for making a "long and distinguished contribution to pro football through coverage," covered the Steelers at The Pittsburgh Press and later the Seahawks for the Tacoma News Tribune. In 1995, he joined ESPN as an insider. At ESPN, he drew fame for his excellent reporting, distinctive look and affable personality. It led to one very memorable "This is Sportscenter" commercial in which he was depicted delivering a report for ESPN and, upon its conclusion, ripping off his suit and appearing as a heavy metal rocker working from his parents' house. "Hey, mom! I'm done with my segment," he bellowed. |

That hasn't stopped NFL teams in the past. As long as the talent level is high, tolerance level is high (plus Watson hasn't been convicted of anything).
It's going to be another shitty year for NY football....I don't see the Giants winning more than 5 or 6 games this season. Amazes me so many fans still believe in Daniel Jones. I've seen enough.
At least the rest of the league will be fun to watch, particularly the AFC.

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Dwayne Haskins dies at 24 after being hit by vehiclePittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins died Saturday morning after he was hit by a vehicle in South Florida, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. He was 24. The Steelers confirmed Haskins' passing. "I am devastated and at a loss for words with the unfortunate passing of Dwayne Haskins," Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin said in a statement. "He quickly became part of our Steelers family upon his arrival in Pittsburgh and was one of our hardest workers, both on the field and in our community. Dwayne was a great teammate, but even more so a tremendous friend to so many. I am truly heartbroken. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Kalabrya, and his entire family during this difficult time." A standout at Ohio State, Haskins set numerous school records for the Buckeyes as a redshirt sophomore in 2018, including single-season marks for passing yards (4,831) and touchdowns (50). He earned first-team All-Big Ten honors, was named third-team AP All-American, finished third in Heisman Trophy voting and was named Rose Bowl MVP after leading the Buckeyes to a 28-23 victory over the Washington Huskies. Haskins chose to forego his remaining years of eligibility and enter the 2019 NFL Draft. The quarterback was selected 15th overall by Washington, the third signal-caller taken behind Kyler Murray (No. 1 overall) and Daniel Jones (No. 6). Haskins began his rookie season behind QB Case Keenum, but started seven games down the back stretch of the campaign. Haskins finished Year 1 with a 2-5 mark as a starter, completing 119 of 203 attempts (58.6%) for 1,365 yards, seven touchdowns and seven interceptions in nine total games played. |

Guy had his whole life ahead of him whether he would have lived up to being a top draft pick is or not. The guy was great in the locker room and great in giving back to the local community.
