The Last Duel

I loved this movie. Went in not having seen any press, media or opinions about. Never read the book, either, I might have to on this one. Just thinking what an odd title. I personally loved the way the story was told in 3 parts. I've seen reviews that say the parts tell the same story and that couldn't be further from the truth.

The controversy I believe is the 3rd chapter. The point of view not written in history books but one that has been lived out by millions of women. I hope there was some kind of warning because I can see this being triggering for anyone who's suffered a sexual assault. And it a good example on how people view themselves.

Having the movie open with the duel I think was a good choice. Making it more intense once you know all that's at stake. I think I held my breathe through the entire scene.

Time keeps on slipping into the future...

Then I have only one thing to say: Read the book by Eric Jager! And I don't know if it's mentioned in the movie, but this was the last time a trial by duel was held in France. That explains the title. The book will tell you all about the background and the judicial system in medieval France.

If you take any of this seriously, you're a bigger fool than I am.

I've been listening to some thing reading the trail letters and I'm guessing some diaries of these events which tells so much especially concerning chapters 1 & 2 of the movie.
