Do you still use taxi/cab service? If so, why?

I see there are a ton of cabs still operating in the city and Im curious about that. I don't use Lyft or Uber often but they are the only paid service I've used in 10 years. I can't see needing a cab ever again, but obviously sa lot of people do.

.

The last time I took a NYC yellow cab it stank to high heaven and he had some strange metal tube installed to pump the air conditioning from the front to the back (it didn't work very well). I am now only taking Ubers if absolutely necessary as you know it'll be nice/clean. Yellow cabs can be a huge fail, too risky.

Uber often just doesn't come. Turn round last minute. Also sometimes the drivers can be really creepy and leery.. some, not all! Regular taxi service more reliable and drivers generally less leery.

I do remember some hygiene issues. I wonder how that plays out these days.

Interesting. I remember cabs being unreliable as far as time goes, waiting for one to arrive, it wasn't unusual to wait an hour or so. Granted the concept of waving down a cab has always been a rare thing in these parts, it always required scheduling and waiting.

Where I live they have upped their game as they have to (london) so maybe it might be better if you ever did again. I usually schedule plus they should have child seats that way!

I haven't used a cab in years, but I wouldn't use an app-based service because I rarely use apps.

Speaking of cabs, does anyone remember in the '70s the big, fat-looking cabs would have extra, stool-like seats for kids that popped up out of the floor (or maybe out of the front seat??). It's just a vague memory, but I love remembering all the dangers kids managed to survive back then. (The seats didn't have belts or anything.)

I don't see me using a cab anytime soon. Especially when the app service usually shows up in under 10 minutes, there has been a time or 2 when it was 20, 25 minutes. Never had a problem even scheduling pickups in other cities ahead of time. It was even a convenience arranging pickups for teens late at night so I didn't have to be in the streets at all hours. Seems it comes down to location which one works best.

I used one about 7 months ago. Right before i left San Diego. It was OK i guess.

Anyways, check this BS out. mad

This woman got charged $10,000 for a 1-mile cab ride in S.F. When she disputed the bill, things got even more outrageous
