Yes, a clever social commentary on the pandemic response from certain quarters.

Interesting you saw the pandemic and I'd agree. I saw climate change. I'm sure it could fit for so many things.

That was my issue too. I also couldn’t handle anymore of watching Leonardo about to pop a vein in his forehead. Interesting premise though.

I watched it, liked it but also found it a bit boring, especially toward the end but I guess the anti-climactic ending was part of the whole idea. It was tad too predictable and over the top for me...too paedagogical at times.

Nice little satire to watch on Netflix though.

I liked it. It was a commentary about the last few years of how social media has made us so numb. There are other films like this, however it was campy and worth the watch. I love Leonardo in everything he does, he is one of my favorites of all time.
I would like to comment on the ending however I wont spoil it.

I think the creators said it was a metaphor for climate change. Tho I imagine other crises could be substituted. (I haven't seen it.)

Yeah, however...I don't think climate change would stop a giant meteor from hitting the Earth at all. It was about our civilization thinking about making money off an event like this happening more than anything.

I just took the whole extinction event aspects of it which a comet would be as the metaphor. But we see the exact same attitudes when the scientists say something about anything seriously life altering.

Yeah. Exactly. I reckon one of the biggest threats that’s barely mentioned is a CME.

the main thing that bothered me about the concept was that they wanted to get gold and diamonds off of the comet...but that would devalue gold and diamonds (well diamonds are over priced by artificial means by about 100X) so they would be opposed to that... seems like it was a poorly concived plot device...

I thought their main aim was to harvest much needed rare earths. Of course harvesting them might devalue what they already have in stock but from what I understood the remaining rare earths were not enough for future demands.

But I must admit I didn´t really pay that much attention to that part.

Definitely about the environemnt/climate and most people not doing the things we collectively need to do to change the trajectory before it is too late.

They also said processors manufacturing which use precious metals and nations are in the midst of a tug-of-war over that resource.
