Real World: Homecoming

Paramount+ reunited the season 1 cast of Real World for a shorter stay in the same loft as the first time around.

But now, they're airing a reunion of the people from season two, including David and Tami - who had a near-world famous fall out for David pulling a comforter off Tami, who was only in her underwear, and Beth S. comparing it to rape. That is hashed out, plus a lot more.

Is anyone watching either of the reunion seasons? I'm all up in my 1990s feelings.

Yes, I have been enjoying watching the very season that you mentioned in your post. In fact, I was going to start a thread about the exact same thing (no lie).

I don't think they should have thrown David out of the house. He wanted to talk to each of the ladies in the house to apologize, but they refused to speak to him. I thought that was kind of crappy on their part. Hear the man out, let him tell his side of the story!
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

David's kind of coming in hot when they were on the yacht, though. With the vaping and defensive mode. But he has a right to be a little on edge or defensive. Beth S., still - now in her 50s - is in everyone's damn business. She's an instigator, even 30 years later.

They always wanted rancor on the show for ratings, like clicks are the thing now. Didn't Puck die?

Puck was another season than the two Reunion specials airing now. He's very much alive. Pedro died from that season, the first person on TV to die of AIDS and really share his story in a very, very public way. It was groundbreaking, more than anything else that show ever provided (other than the race-relations talk on season with with Kevin and Julie.)

I liked Pedro a lot, it's so sad that he's no longer with us.

Yeah, I have no desire to revisit past seasons in their original form. That was 30 years ago, and we were all different people (or not even born yet).

Having said that, I did rewatch the one in London. It was a favorite. Truly a colorful and diverse cast of folks. But that's it. The rest, I don't care enough about to rewatch.

The reunions, with these people in their 50s, like myself, is much more interesting. Throw in three decades of life experience and growing up, then toss them back together again, let's see what happens.

I'm not sure why I was so fascinated with it. Sharon was a hoot from the get-go. They painted Mike as a dumb American, but that wasn't the case. Even when he seems to ask "Big Ben is a clock?" That was literally half of a sentence of him saying, "I know Big Ben is a clock."

It's pretty crazy. They seem to take certain episodes and focus on a housemate's life. It was a different way of editing and shooting that previous seasons.

One gal, Jacinda, ended up going into acting and has been in a lot of major productions. I don't know whatever happened to the rest of them. Well... except Joe (I think his name was), the wannabe actor. He ended up as a weather guy on a local news channel somewhere before leaving there to do other things. If you watch, google him or search on YouTube. His old news reel, all grown up, is on there.

I used to be such a fan of this show...from the first season until about New Orleans.

I tried the NYC reunion...and it was cool seeing them all again...but I couldn't get through the first episode. I kept falling asleep. It's either me getting old or the show was just plain boring. biggrin But I have no desire to watch more.

It's definitely a different, more relaxed, grown up vibe.

BUT - Becky is still going on with her white lady blind-to-color racism. "I danced with Africans, and I shed my skin. I wasn't white or black."

OMG THE CONVERSATION THAT ENSUED FROM THAT ONE! She got up in her white lady feelings and... well, maybe you really should watch it.

The only bummer was Eric's situation on the show. But he was still there. Sorta.

Tami(whom I had a not so kind encounter with while she was filming Real Word La) has come a LONG WAY since then. I can't help but forgive her now and understand the issues she was going through.

Watching the London season now. I'm wondering if Paramount Plus has all of the Real World shows. Because as soon as I finish watching one season, a new one starts. Gotta love it!

I mean... if you're watching it on Paramount+, isn't it rather easy to just view Seasons and Episodes?

I don't know of any other way to view it, besides Paramount Plus. It might be on MTV.com, but I haven't bothered to look lol.

I'm watching episode 5 of Homecoming Los Angeles right now.

Man, this cast was always a little weird, but this shit has. not. changed. much at all. New York was a much more interesting juxtaposition of past and present - until they talked about race and Becky went all "I don't see color" white girl. (Let's no derail this thread into race, I'm just making a comment about the show.)

It's still interesting to watch the Los Angeles reunion shows. I wonder how many older seasons they'll try to do this with? Because there was a short turn around between season 1 and 2 homecomings. I would like to see London, Miami, and San Francisco (I think).

I had to check wikipedia, the seasons I watched were:

New York

Los Angeles

San Francisco

London

Miami

Hawaii

Homecoming New York

Homecoming Los Angeles
