I used to love Facebook, but I hate it now. This has become a very recent development for me. They have become so stringent on what you can and cannot post. I hate having someone telling me what I can and cannot say on MY page. That is why I left, because it just became ridiculous. For example, I got banned from posting on Facebook groups for a whole week because I posted, "WTF", on someone's thread. I purposely did not spell out the words, but I guess in Facebook world, that is still considered swearing. I don't need it, so I quit, and I'm glad that I did. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

For me the turning point was when I found out Facebook actually saves everything you type, even all the alterations you made before posting your final text. That is just creepy to me, it pushed me over the edge and I left Facebook. RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

That is VERY creepy that Facebook saves and selling your preferences (which explains why there's so many ads on there). I don't regret leaving Facebook; it probably was one of the wisest decisions I have made. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

- How to stay in touch with your international friends... - telephone - videocall - write a real letter, you know, paper and stamps and shit... - send a card - send a real printed photo(s) as a card or suprise post - Just sayin' Yes I write real letters, again - to my best of friends. The feeling is mutual - it is super satisfying too. But you have to like to write. It makes you think more of what you want to say, and how you say it. And you writing again. With a real pen. Not with your thumbs or all fingertips on a keyboard. And all that ''i barely post there at all...'' should/could be a valid reason to save your precious time. Naaah, it's the 'likes' we're all mostly after' to be honest. For a long time i got trapped in the same pool. Not to forget the fear of missing out on (unimportant) stuff (really), think about it. The letting others know how our lives should be, how we want or lives to be (seen) is a very important empty issue. Facebook doesn't bring the best out of people imho... from what i've experienced so far. Some of my friends called me crazy, like ''why are you leaving facebook? oh my god, how can we stay in contact then''... Well those who said that, are out of the picture now anyways. And that is a good thing too. You simply can't have 1645 'friends' (let alone 60), all organised in files with post priviliges etc). Facebook will always make it sure and easily possible in every way for you to keep busy at least an hour hour a day. They want YOU to only see THEIR advertisement, and buy useless shit. This questionable indiscriminate mega advertisment company, that only wants your data - even if you don't post, has everyone of us with our balls. And i know, they have my data too. At least i'm saved from that unneeded constant longing for 'likes' and the need to constantly check basically unimportant shit, food, holiday pictures, dogs, cqts, bad jokes, the hyper intelligent kids, the boring weekend trips, champagne en drinks in the sun, semi political info, and last bu tnot least, how healthy every one seems to be. Cause sometimes even (close) friends can behave shitty on facebook without any intention really. And for that, i'd like to have 'm in front of me, with a beer, a coffee, diner, a face to face chat. -

I do most of the bolded parts and still like to stay in touch with friends on Facebook. The majority of them are really people I would consider friends, or at least acquantainces that I like , and that I like to stay in touch with. Not everybody wants to speak on the phone these days. And the last time I wanted to send two postcards to friends instead of sending an FB or Whatsapp message I could not even find a post office (I´m serious here....the place where I was staying had one post office, and it was already closed for good ). . I´m not after "likes", really, since I barely post there these days. So, if I don´t post, how can I be after "likes" ? But I do "like" a lot of the stuff that my active friends post. And it´s nice to see their pictures and what and how they are doing. It´s a fast way to check up on friends, and we talk on the phone sometimes, too. When I spend a long time on Facebook, I ignore most of the ads there and don´t even notice them really. Most of the time I spend there is spent on looking at pictures of my friends, reading articles that I find interesting ( stuff that pops up on my newsfeed on FB, such as fitness and nutrition news, news from the world of science, politics, culture). Of course I could get all that info from books and proper magazines, and yes, I still go to the library sometimes but it´s good to get a nice overview in my newsfeed. If it gets repetitive, I just put certain pages on snooze for a while. . But it´s not like I don´t see the negative aspects of Facebook. They are definitely there, and they should be taken seriously, and every now and then I ignore FB for a couple of days or weeks, or during monthlong vacations but bottom line is that it all depends on how you use it, and how you deal with addiction in general. It all depends on the individual person I guess. Also, if it´s not Facebook, it´s the next big thing. I see a lot of young people who are no longer on FB but they are absolutely addicted to other social media, and it´s reached a point where it´s seriously affecting their focus. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

psychodelicide said: It just wasn't fun for me anymore, so I decided to leave it behind. I was spending way too much time on there anyway. Now I will have more time to do more important things that I have been procrastinating on. Kudos! Can’t say I blame you. It’s low vibrational & so triggering, if it’s not the people yammering away at each other over political differences, it’s the woe is me look at me my life is shittier than yours crowd. I love my fb friends, but it’s like I don’t recognize this FB persona, why are you contaminating the place with your negative energy? It’s gotten much better since I deleted mine. Twitter is more than enough for me, and I use it specifically for nerdy musical stuff [Edited 11/17/21 15:32pm]

I only signed up for it to stay in touch with family and friends and that's still what I use it for. That's the only thing I use it for. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato
