“Illicit fentanyl was responsible for nearly three quarters of the more than 93,000 fatal drug overdoses in the United States in 2020,” said Deputy Attorney General Monaco

One pill can kill.

Moreover, the number of fake pills containing fentanyl has jumped nearly 430 percent since 2019. On August 3, 2021, DEA launched a nationwide law enforcement effort to address the alarming increase in the availability and lethality of fentanyl-laced fake pills.

More than 800 arrests made in DEA crackdown on fentanyl-laced fake pills
and seized more than 1.8 million fake pills during a two-month sweep

The fake pills seized were capable of killing more than 700,000 people, she said.

"DEA laboratory testing reveals that today, four out of 10 fentanyl-laced fake pills contain a potentially lethal dose (2 milligrams)," the agency said in a news release.

The DEA said the counterfeit pills — made to look like real opioid medications such as oxycodone, Percocet or Adderall — are sold on the street by dealers or online, including through social media platforms.

The Sackler family has profited in the billions and created the opioid crisis that has killed so many people. Their greed is staggering and now they can't be sued with a recent Federal court ruling.

The details of the many lawsuits and how the corporation pushed opioids are like reading about Pablo Escabar or El Chapo, except it was legal. These people won't go down running from the Army trying to capture/kill them, they just kept the money.

Just a matter of time before this was a movie, the truth is scarier than fiction.

Absolutely horrible. That drug has killed so many people in such a short time. I recently move back to San Francisco, and so far there's been over 400 overdose deaths due to drugs. And the majority have been from fentanyl. sad

Rest in Peace Bettie Boo. See u soon.

I used to have a friend who used fentanyl patches and she was reckless with it, so I used to worry sometimes that she would end up losing consciousness or dead.
