Jamie Lee Curtis, 62, Says Plastic Surgery Is ‘Wiping Out Generations of Beauty’

I actually never thought about it in these exact words, only in a case by case individual way

AAPf5Zi.img?h=399&w=799&m=6&q=60&o=f&l=f&x=476&y=213© Mondadori Portfolio - Getty Images Jamie Lee Curtis, 62, has dabbled with cosmetic procedures, but now warns against it, “once you mess with your face, you can’t get it back,” she says.
  • Jamie Lee Curtis opens up about her true feelings towards plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures.
  • “The current trend of fillers and procedures, and this obsession with filtering,” the Halloween Kills actress told Fast Company, “are wiping out generations of beauty.”
  • Curtis, 62, has previously opened up about dabbling with plastic surgery—and she says none of the procedures worked like they were supposed to.

No matter the topic, Jamie Lee Curtis has always spoken her mind—and her latest comments are taking unrealistic beauty standards to task.

In a new interview with Fast Company, Curtis, 62, spoke out against plastic surgery and trendy cosmetic procedures: “The current trend of fillers and procedures, and this obsession with filtering, and the things that we do to adjust our appearance on Zoom are wiping out generations of beauty,” the Knives Out actress said. “Once you mess with your face, you can’t get it back.”

Curtis speaks from experience; she’s long been open about the fact that she’s dabbled with many different types of procedures. “I’ve had a little lipo. I’ve had a little Botox. And you know what? None of it works. None of it,” she told More in 2002. “It’s such a fraud. And I’m the one perpetuating it.”

She's right. You see it a lot now with girls my age and younger. The lip fillers seem to be the most popular. And it looks fucking stupid. What's so great about going around with a mouth that looks like a fish who's just lost a fight with a wasp?

I agree, especially when it comes to those overblown lips with hyaluronic acid or whatever it´s called. It looks stupid and is a major turn-off for me.

I understand why people want to use some botox on their foreheads but it can look very ridiculous if you´re not careful. Meg Ryan for example looks so strange these days.

I prefer women who look natural. Beauty is more than just wrinkle-free skin.

" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

In Los Angeles you see every extreme and none are good.

I always wondered why their friends don't tell them to stop. Most of these procedures are done over time and my friends would not hold back as soon a I start to not look like a human being.

Always admired this woman and I'm glad she's saying something about this. She's still as beautiful as ever...

I don't know if it's a choice but a lot of stars do it to stay relevant. Once stars age not many scripts come their way. Their acting industry is brutal........... I could assume its the same for the music industry.

I know people personally who have gotten lip procedures done and it makes me sad cause they were naturally beautiful before it and couldn’t see it. I have a small upper lip so had thought about it too, but not interested in altering anything

Don't do it. It looks ridiculous. You're better off looking natural than looking like the creature from the black lagoon.

I think there is surgery and surgery though

A single nose job
Pinning ears back
Dental work
Mole removal
Breast augmentation

This sort of stuff can make a huge difference to people's self esteem, I don't think it's bad. I haven't partaken myself but I don't think it's bad. It's when it escalates.

If you need surgery to improve your self esteem then you have bigger issues.

It's true what many of you are saying. People almost start looking like clones

Escape From LA had a section of area where plastic surgery and such was a horror story

Men are seen to age better than women. Sadly that is sexist because older women are hot.

I think every plastic surgery clinic should have big photos of Michael Jackson in his later years on the walls with the question: do you really want to look like this?
If you take any of this seriously, you're a bigger fool than I am.

Don’t worry, I won’t get any at all, have to appreciate what my creator gave me, plus I always have lip liner as a choice. I feel sorry for those who feel they had to resort to it. I think one of my friends who got it done is trying to look white and it makes me sad for her cause her sister made a post about colourism/shadism in her family when younger, and it’s I’m like seeing the result of that and no one else is being honest about it and just liking the pic

Love Madonna but feel sad for her looking unrecognizable these days. She really has overdone it with the procedures and should have aged naturally

I don't even wear makeup anymore so I just can't understand anyone undergoing surgery to alter their appearance. In fact, before I had Isabelle as my avatar on the org, I used to use a picture of myself without makeup. I got no complaints lol . And even if I did, who am I trying to impress? I'm happy with my appearance and that's all I really care about. Besides, the last time I wore makeup, I was wearing lip gloss and my husband said it looked like I'd just come back from KFC lol

I hardly wear makeup either these days, just lipstick once in awhile, I have a nude tone and a bright red one for special occasions and sometimes I blend the two, but hardly wear it, also with wearing a mask I don’t need makeup!

I think once you come addicted to it then it's a problem. Women get back pains so yeah that is ok to get breast reduction, Dental work yeah sure can be a health issue.

Yes true, I’ve met women who had the breast reduction surgery due to bad backs

After watching several episodes of Botched it's obvious it's very much a part of the normal world now. I just think of Twilight Zone, "Number 12 Looks Just Like You." It's basically where we are headed.

Yes!!! Very excited for that
A great example of plastic surgery ruining a natural beauty is Meg Ryan and recently Famke Jannsen got a botched surgery

That's very much a male belief. Some men think women have nothing better to do than please the men in their lives. But like I said, that's very much a male belief.

Plastic surgery used to be very much a taboo subject.

But you mention Botox now and nobody even raises an eyebrow.

Isn't the new thing is girls in their 20s getting plastic surgery? I think they refer to it as pre-maintenance botox or something like that. It's just sad. I love Jamie Lee Curtis and how she's always willing to open up about herself and subjects like this. She is the best!
