I’m (sort of) interested in dating an actor

An acquaintance of mine in acting is actually single and I found out today he’s looking for a partner, though he’s looking casually and I’m looking for long term

What are the perks of dating someone in an industry if anyone here has experienced that? I thought about messaging him but don’t want to come off as too eager or anything like that

There are a few actresses and actors here, I think Genesia is an actress, she might have some insight.

If you want long and he wants short term, don't put yourself through that. At least, that's my opinion. You'll always want more.

Yeah I agree with this, now that I’ve calmed down I feel he might be looking for a fling and not seriously as I am. He’s from Canada but lives in LA too, he is well established.

Actors are people. You don't date an actor, you date a person.

I started my professional life in television (not acting - I was part of a local news/weather/sports operation). I once dated a guy who, in the middle of an argument, said to me, "You're not anything like you are on TV." I said, "I'm on TV for 4 minutes at a time - and I'm WORKING. What the heck do you think you know about me as a person from that?!"

Basically, he'd asked me out because I was on TV - and THAT was what he was attracted to. After we broke up, he dated a woman who worked at another station in town.

Bottom line: No one likes a starfucker. Or a starfucker wannabe.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I wouldn't because I am (not single and) more of a music buff and sort of a movie dumbass. I don't think our interests would overlap enough.

It’s ok I like someone else now, but sort of wish I could message him just as friends and to see if we connect more though I don’t want to start anything if he’s full of it or a womanizer cause I have no way of knowing
