Interview With The Vampire series coming to AMC
Anne Rice's best-selling novel, Interview With the Vampire, is being turned into a TV series for AMC and its streaming service, AMC+, to premiere in 2022. Additionally, AMC Networks acquired the rights in 2020 to Rice's catalog, which includes the Vampire Chronicles and Mayfair Witches series. Time keeps on slipping into the future...

I actually love Interview With The Vampire. But then again it's how I learned about Anne Rice. So I'm imprited with that movie first. The rest I can't stand since by then I had devoured all of her vampire series before seeing them. And I think Anne not liking Tom and being so vocal about it made him work for it harder and give a solid performance. Her vampires weren't spending their immortality trolling high school kids that's for sure. Though I'll admit some of her other series, one would have to seriously side eye but that's another subject. I'll be curious how this series comes out with her and her son at the helm, having a greater creative control. Her series definitely have a lot of depth. Time keeps on slipping into the future...

Always thought Anne Rice should be taught in school and I think she's master of the craft. | |

I'm hoping The Originals haven't tainted me too much. I could see Niklaus as Lestat but Elijah surpasses Louis by a zillion after Anne got through hollowing him out leaving him a pitiful whimpering husk. Time keeps on slipping into the future...

all that part... Queen of The Damned was more to the book... Interview was more about stars than bein to the book (ergo bigger budget) eem that twighlight series wasn't up to an Anne Rice book tho it was pretty well done... The Vampire Chronicals as a whole should have the budget Transformers had is what i'm sayin... or StarWars/Batman/MarvelUniverse cause that brand (TVC) could be up there with any of those... we haven't eem got to the witches and taltos n shit... Memnoch the Devil would be a hell of a movie... i am KING BAD!!!

Memnoch the Devil would be a hell of a movie... I never saw Twilight but I got drawn into The Vampire Diaries as The Originals came into the picture and then left when the branched into their own. IWTV actually was very close to the book. It's just that Anne couldn't stand Tom Cruise. She wanted Tom Hanks as Lestat, I don't see that at all. She asked for Brad Pitt to trade places and be Lestst over Tom. She wasn't feeling him at all. Anne was quite descriptive. As aexy as Aaliyah was, QOTD was not it. Sure Lestat became a rockstar as in the book but the other vamps were pathetic. Maybe not Marharet. We shall see. Given the target audience, what will take the center emphasis from the books. Maybe they'll really make Armand like he was in the books not like any of the movies. Will it go into Marius. Would be delicious if they focused some on Pandora, I doubt it though. Now all I need is an update for Ms Butler's "Dawn". It's been over a year. If it's still coming that would have my complete heart. [Edited 8/2/21 14:55pm] Time keeps on slipping into the future...

Lestat Sam Reid has been cast in the lead role of Lestat in AMC’s “Interview With the Vampire” series, Variety has learned. The show, which was officially greenlit in June, is based on the Anne Rice novel of the same name. The book centers on the vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac as he relates the story of his life to a reporter, in particular how he was turned into a vampire and then mentored by Lestat de Lioncourt. The cabler has given “Interview With the Vampire” an eight episode order with an eye toward a 2022 debut on both AMC and AMC Plus. Rolin Jones will serve as writer, executive producer, and showrunner on the series under his overall deal with AMC Studios. Mark Johnson will executive produce under his overall deal with AMC Studios as well, with Anne Rice and Christopher Rice also executive producing. Alan Taylor will direct the first two episodes and serves as an executive producer. Variety exclusively reported last year that AMC had acquired the rights to Rice’s book series “The Vampire Chronicles” and “The Lives of the Mayfair Witches.”

Debating posting Anne Rice's article after she saw the movie, with Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. I never saw it until recently. I probably will post bits of it.

I'm curious how they'll handle Claudia in this time of seriously shifting ideas. Granted she's a fan favorite. I know I felt a discomfort back in the day just reading the book, although it didn't cross any lines, I'm sure many others did too. I doubr they'll get as far as Marius and Armand, which did cross lines. Parts are not going to play at all these days while others parts will for the first time will be just fine. I think there'll be some serious age shifting. Actually I hope so I'm at peace with my discomfort. Time keeps on slipping into the future...

Welp, my Claudia question is answered. (Daniel Malloy will be one of the lead characters in Interview With The Vampire and casting is looking for a 60-70-year-old man and it is open ethnicity. Daniel Malloy is described as slight, but with a huge chip on his shoulder. Malloy is a two-time Pulitzer prize winning investigator journalist who works for the San Francisco Chronicle, Los Angeles Times, and The Guardian." It is also noted that Malloy will now be working as a professor. He's had a tumultuous career, and is forced to conduct classes from his home due to the COVID epidemic, which will be worked into Anne Rice's existing storyline. The plot of the series finds Malloy interviewing his vampire a second time, as he was too addled with his drug addiction to get it right the first go around.) Interesting twist. More but least unexpected twist. (Louis De Pointe Du Lac, who was portrayed by Brad Pitt in the original movie, will now be played by a black actor. Production is seeking someone in their early 30s. The description for this version of Louis offers these tantalizing details. "Creole, beautiful, eyes are brilliant green. His skin is smooth, as if sculpted from Ceylon ebony.") Anne and her descriptions. Time keeps on slipping into the future...

As a huge Anne Rice fan I hope they get it right this time. I first read "Interview With The Vampire" when it came out in the '70s. I actually had a class with one of her college literature professors who snobbishly said that he had never read one of her novels. He also related a story of how he called her into his office one day to discuss one of her term papers he wasn't satisfied with and she told him, "I'm going to write my way out of this place!" Sound like there will be changes that probably weren't mainstream acceptable 40-50 years ago when her first book was written. I find it curious that the character Daniel is being blended with the character David Talbot who was an older distinguished vampire and gay. Now needs to rewrite the original interview to correct mistakes. Time keeps on slipping into the future...

Louis will have been a brothel owner not a plantation owner. At this point I gotta watch just to see how much the original story will change. To me Sam Reid looks like a slightly thicker Joseph Morgan. I dare say Anne saw what I did. I don't know anything about Sam but Joseph was wild. Time keeps on slipping into the future...
