Ok. Who would like a Lethal Weapon type movie with..... ...David Bautista and Jason Momoa? Me! Hush kpowers Marvel's Dave Bautista Wants To Do A Movie With Jason Momoa, And His Idea Sounds Awesome https://www.cinemablend.c...eapon-dune Dave Bautista took to Twitter on Thursday morning to share an idea he has just casually thought up with his fans, and it garnered a lot of excitement. This is a completely out-of-thin-air idea from the Guardians of the Galaxy actor, but he sounds serious about it if the right people are reading. What if these tweets were really the start of an actual movie? In the age of social media, it would not be completely surprising. Marvel’s upcoming hero Shang-Chi did @Marvel about starring as the hero in 2018 before actually being cast in the role the following year. However, as the Marvel president shared, he did not see the social media post before casting him. *fingers crossed* Time keeps on slipping into the future...

It wouldn't work. Their styles are too similar for a Lethal Weapon type movie. The reason Lethal Weapon worked so well as a buddy cop movie was that Riggs and Murtaugh were so different. Murtaugh was old school, more professional and had a happy family life. He was the straight man. Then you had Riggs, who was an over the top psycho with a badge and a death wish. His wife was dead. He was suicidal. They initially see each other as polar opposites. It's only when they spend more time together that they become close and realise that it's their differences that make them such a great team.
Batista and Jason Momoa are both hulking brutes. Which one of them could possibly play the "Danny Glover" half of the team? Neither! Which is why a Lethal Weapon type movie would never work with them. Something like Assassins might work though. If both actors were portraying hitmen or something and Batista was in the Stallone role as a smarter, more experienced hitman who had a rivalry with Jason Momoa's "Antonio Banderas" style younger hitman. You'd probably want to limit the amount of shared screentime though. Neither man is a particularly good actor so you'd want them on screen with better actors who can carry the scenes for them. Only have them meet up in action scenes and the final shootout. [Edited 8/21/21 15:44pm]

I can't deny I also considered their similarities but then thought maybe somebody might be up for the acting challenge. 🤔 Who knows. Jason's a dad now so he might want to. He's in a new movie as a dad, Still being the tough guy though. But maybe beginning the shift. It worked for Ice Cube, so challenge isn't reserved for the creme de la creme of actors. And then David doesn't have as long as a record as playing the tough guy, maybe he wants the challenge. I don't think I've seen Assassins I'll have to check that out. Time keeps on slipping into the future...

Assassins is a really good movie. Some great talent involved. Stallone, Banderas, Julianne Moore. Written by The Wachowski Bros and directed by Richard Donner (who, coincidentally, also directed Lethal Weapon). Stallone and Banderas play rival Assassins who are both hired to kill Julianne Moore.

I read the fifth part was greenlighted with at least Glover & Gibson and director Donner returning, but with Donner dead now...I don't know.
I'd personally handpick Tom Hardy and Anthony Mackie for a reboot.

I admit that I'm not too familiar with Kevin James's work. I only really know him from King Of Queens. But from what I know he primarily plays comedic characters. You can't really have your straight man as someone who is known for comedies. It works better when it's a serious actor, out of his element. I'd personally go for someone like Don Cheadle. He's a very good actor and is very capable of playing the straight man in a buddy cop movie, as he has proven in The Guard.

I'd personally handpick Tom Hardy and Anthony Mackie for a reboot. There should never be a remake or reboot. There's no way it could possibly live up to the original movies. I wouldn't say no to a Lethal Weapon 5 though. Perhaps Mel Gibson could direct it himself. He might be a fucking headcase but he's a fantastic director. And while he's at it, George Miller should absolutely bring him back as an older Max Rockatansky in the next Mad Max.

Agree (except for the EmmaMcG/onlyforaminute version) if not you get

I think if they did a reboot they would feel the need to "update it" so they would probably cast Melissa Mccarthy and Tiffany Haddish in the roles

I agree; there shouldn't be a remake; but Hardy and Mackie would be good choices for an eventual reboot; the tv series was crap.

" In December 2020, Richard Donner confirmed that he was developing the sequel and would produce and direct it, adding that it would be the last film he directs.[8] However, Donner died on July 5, 2021, leaving the fate of the film unknown.[9] Mel Gibson has been approached for potentially directing the film.[1"

Mel Gibson is one. Shane Black is the other. I don't think anyone else would do it justice.

Shane Black is actually an exciting director (raised on 60's and 70's movies) but he lost it as a writer a long time ago. Iron Man 3 made zero sense and The Predator was abysmal.

I haven't seen The Predator yet but Iron Man 3 is my favourite Iron Man movie. And in between those movies he did The Nice Guys, which was also pretty good. But aside from that, I think Shane Black could be the perfect choice for Lethal Weapon 5 because not only is he a very capable director but if anyone is going to write the final Lethal Weapon movie, it's only right that it be the guy who wrote the first one. You know he'd probably take it a bit more seriously than someone else who was just hired by the studio. It's the same reason that I'm excited for the new Ghostbusters and I was absolutely dreading the 2016 version. If you have someone involved in production who has strong ties to the original then you're going to get a better movie. Because it means more to them.

Hmm... (Just days after Dave Bautista voiced his interest in doing a “buddy cop” movie with Jason Momoa on Twitter, the Aquaman star on Monday confirmed that the project is “off to the races,” while appearing on The Late Late Show With James Corden. Bautista shared his initial idea in a tweet last week, writing, “Just going to throw this out into the atmosphere and see what happens. Here we go… Me and Momoa in a Lethal Weapon type buddy cop movie directed by David Leitch. Ok! There it is. Now we wait.” He literally texted me four days ago, going, ‘We need to do a buddy cop film. We love each other. We are on See and Dune together,’” Momoa told Corden. “And I said, ‘Absolutely.’ And he said, ‘Let’s do it in Hawaii.’ And I said, ‘Let’s do it. I have an idea.’ So it’s off to the races now. We’re doing it.” “It sells itself, bro,” Momoa responded. “Dave loves wearing Speedos. I love wearing board shorts. And both of us with our shirts off. He’ll be grumpy and I’ll be charming. Boom. It sells itself, bro. I have the hair. He doesn’t have hair. We cover all the demographics.”) Well, there you have it. Time keeps on slipping into the future...
