The new Star Trek series are darker in themes-where the original shows and movies had hope and with happier outcome endings (most of the time). The popular shows for Star Trek are The original, The Next Generation, and Voyager. I personally like the Voyager series best (season 4 through season 7) the first 3 seasons are okay. And overall Voyager is less cheesy than the original 2 tv series. Overall, perhaps, but Janeway was the second cheesiest captain, after the master of cheese, Kirk. Her acting, while amusing at times, became a distraction.

I liked her and always hate the term "cheesiest"

Yet you used the term cheesy. How do you feel about cheesier?

Oops sorry that wasn't you. Let's just call her acting mannered.

Some people don't like her voice, I do

I think the 2005 remake of 'The Amityville Horror' is much better (and more scarier) than the 1979 original.

"SCARFACE" with Al Pacino. Supposedly, there's going to be another remake. Both remakes of "A Star Is Born" were better than the original too.

I agree, the original was kinda boring. The remake is so much better. The special effects and the pacing is much improved. This time, the story is genuinely scary and creepy.

I liked Janeway. Besides Kirk and Janeway actors are the only ones that had hit Star Trek TV series and additional hit TV series. Others have done well in other arenas. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

I take the Omega Man any day over the crappy Will Smith movie

But that version has Ryan Reynolds in it and honestly CGI does not make a horror movie better, check out the Unholy as an example. But I agree with you the pacing of the movie was good.

and what's wrong with Ryan Reynolds? I think he's a good actor. He did pretty good in this film.

I can watch the Will Smith version every now and then and find it quite enjoyable but it doesn´t even come close to The Omega Man, which I could watch again and again because I really love 1970s sci-fi movies. And there´s so much to discover in The Omega Man, lots of hidden details. I think I´m going to watch it again tonight. It´s on the free internet library.

Technically, the original 1960s show was not a hit. It was going to be cancelled until fans wrote NBC to save it. Even after NBC decided to give it another chance, it was cancelled after season 3. Star Trek started to become popular when the reruns were syndicated in the 1970s. I'm surprised there's not a new version of T.J. Hooker though, since other old TV shows were either made into movies (I Spy, Charlie's Angels, Beverly Hillbillies, Mission Impossible, etc.) or had reboots as TV shows (Magnum P.I., New Leave It To Beaver, Gilligan's Planet, Hawaii 5-0) You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Evil Dead II is a better remake of Evil Dead.

Hate his acting since he's so freakin' sarcastic in just about every movie I've ever seen him in. People like him are the reason why the phrase "Shut the F*** up" exist.

Except in reruns (syndication) it was a hit. Mama's family was the number one syndicated show once it left NBC and did all new shows thru syndication. It held that number one spot the rest of their run. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment
