I wouldn't say I hate it but I thought that Joker was reeeeeaaaaalllllyyy overrated. JaneyPoos used to be it... then they changed what it was. Now what I am isn't it and what is it is strange and frightening to me...

Ya it was a good movie the first time I saw it, when it was called The King of Comedy. |

The Hunger Games. And yes, I read the book, too. It's a an average teenie-romance with a forced love triangle, a predictable outcome and the usual protagonist with exceptional qualities. Add to this a semi-fleshed out universe and you got yourself a mediocre movie/novel going. The only really positive thing in all of this was that it led to the revival of the "Battle Royale" type. |

"Hate" might be too strong, but probably everything by Tarantino. He's sooo overrated. Hey loudmouth, shut the fuck up, right? |

The Princess Bride was the first one I thought of. Just never resonated with me and I didn't find it funny.
Also, Frozen, which I grew to hate because my young son insisted on watching it every day for what felt like a year.
I never got the Kill Bill movies either and I usually love Tarantino's stuff |

My roommate knows it by heart. I walked in one time and he had it going, trying to show it to a friend. The friend had his eyes wide open as if trying to stay awake. I think he hypnotized himself or something. I broke up the party and saved him.
The roommate still enjoyed it, but I told him flat out, "it's a horrible movie!" Just start with ST:The Wrath of Kahn and go from there.
I remember my dad dragging all of us to see it when it came out December 1979. BORING.
The premise of the movie was interesting but man did this movie dragged big time. The debate of which Star trek movie is worse, Part 1 or part 5 continues.
Part 5 by far. I actually love the mood of 1 even if it was not a really engaging plot.
The reallky popular one, 4... I hate. It's like a TV sitcom. |

The Godfather sucks, too many characters, screams bad book adaptation. Getcha shine box, literally a 30-second YouTube scene snippet of Goodfellas is better than the entirety of The Godfather, even smaller-scale lesser known gangster films like A Bronx Tale are superior in every way to The Godfather. All LOTR sucks too, good opening post, animated, Peter Jackson, extended, remastered, box set, podcast, board game, whatever medium, all LOTR....
You want to have an existential crisis try marathoning the extended cuts. Return of the King especially, you think this shit's almost finally over but nope, just revving up ending #1 of #40.

And Nolan / Tarantino are simultaneously great and overrated, Likely their rabid fanboys turn off people even more than their love affair with themselves... don't necessarily agree with the scorn or derision, but, it exists for reason.

I'm going to chime in with Apocalypse Now. I get why people like it and there's a lot to admire about it from an acting, directing and cinematic standpoint but, god help me, every time I watch it I'm bored to tears.
It's the epitome of one of those Movies I'm Supposed to Like since I enjoy Film with a capital "F" but still don't.
A lot of David Lynch movies fall into this category too but for different reasons. Lynch's films are Supposed to Be Interesting simply by virtue of being weird and artsy. A lot like weird abstract art where, if you dislike it, you're bourgeois but maybe I'll get into Lynch later if the thread lives on.
I'm supposed to like Apocalypse Now just because it's a Serious Movie by a Seriously Talented Director with a great track record starring great actors but it never works for me. The extended cut was even more fucking meandering and boring.
There's my hot take on that one. |

One could argue with specific reference to it's Heart of Darkness source material that it's intended to be sprawling and trying to the viewer to reflect upon the equally sprawling and trying circumstances of war that led to the transformation of the Kurtz character from similar to Martin Sheen's into what he became ("The Horror!" etc.). |
