Firefly tv show

Rewatched this TV series recently..

The movie was great but did some unforgiving things
I would like this series to be revived, but as if the movie didnt happen.

I'd love special attention to the story of the shepherd.

Does anyone else love this show??

My son loved this show and we used to watch it togethei. He was disappointed when it didn't continue. The same with the Terminator series.

Brilliant show. The closest we'll ever get to a second season is the series of novels that's been coming out pretty regularly over the last year or so. Some of them are based on ideas the writers had for stories they were considering for season 2 and Joss Whedon is "consulting editor" on each book and maintains that they are canon. In other words, they kind of are season 2, only in the form of novels rather than episodes. I've read two so far and they are really good. Spot on in terms of writing and tone. Some fantastic one-liners too. Plus, they're set in between the series and the movie so any characters who died in Serenity are still around in the books. And we even learn more about the Shepherd's past eek

Oddly I never saw the show. I think I get it mixed up with Farscape which had the puppets. I did love the movie. I might have to invest some time into the show here soon.

You could start with just the first one. It's called Big Damn Hero. See if you like it before committing to buying the rest. Or you could do what I did and just buy them all in one go lol

I think the networks have something against sci fi. But it's the best. Escape to another world and firefly so Rich and creative! Best thing about star wars to me was seeing other worlds!

The network really fucked over Joss Whedon with Firefly. It was aired in different timeslots from one week to the next. Some weeks it wouldn't even be on and Fox would just show something else instead. And even when it was on, episodes were shown out of order so the plot was almost impossible to follow. So it was doomed from the very beginning.

There was some slight hope for a potential new series or possible sequel to Serenity when Disney bought out Fox but unfortunately Joss Whedon seems to be semi-cancelled at the moment so that's probably not going to happen. A new season would be a massive win for Disney+ though so hopefully once Joss Whedon is out of "Twitter jail" we get some sort of continuation.

A lot of Sci-Fi TV Shows were shown out of order which ruined it for the viewer. The show Freaky Links (which was on FOX) had a 2 parter, they didn't air part 2 until several episodes later. Earth 2, a sencondary character was killed off in one episode and the following week she was still alive confuse

Fox were as good at doing sci fi shows as Warner Bros are at making superhero movies.

Yup FOX has been around since 1987 and they only had 3 sci-fi shows that lasted several seaons and they were the X-Files, Gotham and Sliders (some might say Fringe but to me that was more CSI). ABC was known as Always Being Cancelled for all their Sci-Fi theme shows lasting maybe a season. The only Networks that gave sci-fi shows a chance was UPN/WB which merged to be The CW. Unfortunately Greg Berlanti came along and turn the CW into the PCW and just sucked the life out of everything.
