One of my fav movies of all time is Heat staring Pacino & Deniro.

I discoverd that not only was it a remake, but it was also a true story based on a story out of Chicago in the 1960s.

Fun sidenote: Airplane! was a virtual remake of Zero Hour. The latter was a drama from the 40s or 50s. The former is a popular campy comedy. But they share near identical dialog in many sections. There are comparison videos on YoUtube.

Back to the subject: I've never seen Heat. I know of it, but nothing about it.

Heat is easily one of my fav movies of all time.

Do yourself a favor........watch it.

With you on this movie and had zero idea is was a remake.

Heat is a fantastic movie. LA Takedown was decent but nowhere near as good. LA Takedown was originally made as a pilot for a TV show which didn't get picked up so it was re-edited into a TV movie. Michael Mann, who directed LA Takedown, thought that it never really lived up to his original idea and so decided to remake it with several changes made to improve the flow of the story and expand on it a little bit. Michael Mann was also a producer on Miami Vice and later went on to direct the movie version with Jamie Foxx. He must treat everything as a first draft

It was a 1,000 times better as a remake. I think it was one of the best movies of all time the way they weaved personal stories into the plot. I've probable watched this movie 20 times or more.

There is a movie called The Score with Deniro that seems like a sequel to Heat (if Deniro's character would have not died at the end of Heat) that also very good.

Oh I agree. Heat is one of my favourite movies. I really liked The Score too. I actually went to see The Score in the cinema when it came out. I must have only been 10 or 11 years old. If I remember correctly, and I could be wrong, but I think it was out around the same time as the video for the Michael Jackson song You Rock My World came out. Back then I hadn't seen much of Marlon Brando so my only real knowledge of him was from Superman but within a month or so I had seen him in The Score and then again in the MJ video.

Not the same.........it was a remake in the true sense.

Heat was really good, maybe underrated even. It's a little slow in a couple places but it's aged pretty well. The diner scene is the first time DeNiro and Pacino appeared together on screen. I always remember this movie for the use of Moby's 'God Moving Over the Face of the Waters', which I didn't know was going to happen before heading to the theater.
