The Clips ran out of gas.

U can't beat good teams by giving away games.

There were 3 close games in this series, they LOST all 3.

Go Hawks! Lets get these finals started so the players on the Olympic team have more time to get ready.

Edit: Yes, I realize there's a start date for the finals. lol I'm just more excited for the Olympics at this point.

It'll be great to have 2 very different teams in the finals.

I'll bet the league office isn't happy. They were hoping for Brooklyn and one of the LA teams because of star power, which means ratings. I doubt the casual fan will pay attention.

Epic performance by Chris Paul last night. Reminded me of Hakeem in '95 the way he was laser-focused. Dude just said, Clippers, it's not your night. The table is set for CP3 to win it all...it's now or never, because all those injured players will be back next season. And I expect the Warriors to be in the mix once Klay returns.

A little off-topic, but basketball-related;

https://www.espn.com/college-sports/sto ... mpensation

Wonderful decision by the Supreme Court. Justice Brett Kavanaugh said it best;
"The NCAA is not above the law," Kavanaugh wrote. "The NCAA couches its arguments for not paying student athletes in innocuous labels. But the labels cannot disguise the reality: The NCAA's business model would be flatly illegal in almost any other industry in America."
It's about time!

It was a 9-0 decision....that tells you all you need to know about the NCAA.

For decades, the NCAA suits tried to have their cake and eat it too. Let's be honest, big time college sports stopped being 'amateur' once they got those phat network contracts. Just another cut-throat American business.

A great breakdown of CP3's deadly mid-range game;

And I expect the Warriors to be in the mix once Klay returns.

If management and the owners do as well in the off season as they've done in the last decade we should be significantly better, and have Klay back. Poole will be one more year better. Wiseman (if he comes back from the injury well) will be a year better. Wiggins will be a very happy year better in our system (he loves playing with us) and will be open all the damn time with Klay and Steph on the floor. Green ended up having a stellar season and will, in theory, be in good shape after playing for the Olympic team. The returning bench players, those already under contract, are not making huge salaries, fit well with the team, should be better, but also have trade value if they decide to make changes. We have multiple first round draft picks but don't need more projects, so more good trade value. We have a mid-level exception that we have to use this season or we loose it. I expect they'll save it until late, build the team and then grab a title hunting veteran who is willing to play for the trophy, not the payday. The only questions are what are we going to do about a true backup center and/or a starting one if Wiseman doesn't come back from the injury well and how much money ownership is willing to spend to go for it one more time. They're already spent a mint in the last few years, but Steph, Klay, Draymond and Wiggins have a limited number of seasons to play together. I've said for years that Steph is the only one I'm sure will retire a Warrior. But anyway, yeah, the Warriors have a REAL chance of being VERY good again next season.

I don't think the supreme court should ever have been involved and I think amature athletes should be amature athletes. *shrug* College tuition and student loan reform is a much bigger issue for me.

Amateur? No, they're semi-pros. Like I posted before, big-time Div.1 college football/basketball stopped being amateur once the big TV money started rolling in. Then it became another cut throat American business, and a free minor-league system for the NFL & NBA. Difference was, the cats doing the yeoman work didn't get a slice of the profits while everyone else got paid (Google the coaches salaries like Saban/Sweeney/Izzo/Calipari - fucking millions).

The corrupt NCAA suits got away with this shit for decades. Thankfully, the court saw through that bs.

I don't agree and I never will. Amature sports should remain amature sports. The huge profits the university systems are making should be put towards making it easier and less expensive for more people to attend said universities and recieve an education that is increasingly out of reach. Lack of education is the root cause of so many of the problems and gaps in our culture at large. Yes, coaches are overpaid. Address that. Yes, universities make too much money off of their sports programs. It's my opinion that paying amature athletes, many of whom are already attending college on a scholarship that other people can't get, is not the correct answer. More scholarships, lower tuition, pay professors more, tutoring programs so that more students graduate, better facilities and equipment for LEARNING, not sports, or any number of other ways to spend their profit. I mean, which athletes are going to get paid? Because there's about 1000 other sports that aren't basketball or football. Is college going to become about making money as an athlete? That's not what it's there for. Athletics are the secondary purpose for attending college.

Breh lol The Bucks haven't won yet? Giannis isn't playing tonight and regardless of how the last game looked, if the Hawks hadn't gotten down 20 at the start they had a very good chance of winning that game.

lol lol Made me laugh... but, uhhh, yeah, they can. Have a good chance to do so again. I've got no skin in this game though. I'm going for the Hawks, mostly because that's what seems to be annoying the most people lol and because I don't believe the Bucks have what it takes to go all the way. If they prove me wrong I'll be fine with that.

I have not been this unexcited for a final in sooooo long. Like, I wanted the Suns to beat the Clippers, but I can't root for them in the finals. I guess I'll have to stick to my guns and see if the Bucks can prove me wrong and take it all the way.

Reluctantly....

Go Bucks!

Exactly. The term 'student-athlete' is a joke - they're hired mercenaries. Just look at how much loot the top 5 power conferences rake in.

During Johnny Manziel's Heisman season, Texas A&M got $740mil in pledges & gifts, an all-time record at a public university. There ya go.

If Chris Paul plays like he did in Game 6, Suns got this, Giannis or no Giannis. Paul knows this is his best chance to win a title.
