I wrote an article once about everything being so goddamn funny to Fallon. He's one of the phoniest people on television. I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing it.

Fallon is beyond fake. Everything and everyone is amazing to Fallon. (side eye). I also believe Fallon is a raging alcoholic.

I did enjoy Ellen's show in the beginning, I stop watching about 10 years ago. Ellen is now more game show and pranks with give aways (feel good stories). Ellen is rarely a talk show.

I 100% agree with that statement

Just saw this on Twitter: The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon has been renewed for five years — a longer term commitment from NBC to the host than the network had previously disclosed. bit.ly/3opLkuN

Back to Ellen, I'm sorta dreading the annual onslaught of talk show wannabes making their debut. But therre are some familiar names coming back around for something new. Judy Justice starring Judge Judy, The Problem with Jon Stewart, and a new variety show with Conan O'Brien.

Kelly Clarkson seems to be the new "it" show for daytime. I don't appreciate Judge Judy or her new show because I believe a judge she set the standard and be above displaying toxic behavior towards those she holds power over. If that in itself not abuse of power, I don't know what is. Would a boss be able to talk that way to their employees? A Judge has more authority over defendents than a boss over an employee. I don't support toxic people who openly display toxicity to other people (especially if the victims have no power in the situation.).

Is she still on? Drew Barrymore seems to be doing really well with her show, though.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

1) Kelly is a bigger star than Drew. 2)Kelly is considered nice and fun. Drew is quirky and rehearsed in presentation. Both are decent at the job.

My odds are on Kelly. Kelly is an NBC star, pop star and that opens doors and opportunities.

I think she's caving. I think she should have taken Howard Stern's advice and just leaned into the whole "mean Ellen" thing. lol My mom absolutely loves this woman so I've watched her and talked about her a lot over the years (I mostly like her Game of Games show). But I think she's caving - or at the very least she's like, sad, or mad, or just doesn't want to deal with it anymore. Ratings are down on Ellen and Game of Games, so it's probably time, but I still wish she'd hung around a couple more years just to thumb her nose at the haters. Anyway, she doesn't need the money and she's got other things she wants to do so if she's happy, cool for her.

The fact that Ellen outed Mariah Carey's pregnancy (against Carey's wishes) and that Carey later lost the baby reveals Ellen's despicable nature.

I'm not a fan of Dakota Johnson, but good on her for calling Ellen out as the lying sack of shit she really is.

.

I remember THAT^ incident. disbelief

Her first year segment human interest stories "person." Went on record on a morning show in Australia confirming all the bad behavior from Ellen. And that is season 1 of the Ellen show. Can't look her in the eye, didn't want to enter act with the human interest story guests ("what would I have in common with them.") All the things reported in the media was essentially confirmed. The person will probably not be able to ever work in Hollywood ever again.

I've been on a lot of sets, hundreds, working as an extra. You hear horror stories about actors, but I've never actually experienced them. The whole "don't look them in the eye" bit is an urban legend. I was never told anything like that. We're not supposed to talk to actors, but that's a general rule. And even when extras violate that rule, there are never consequences.

I think it comes down to this: Men are allowed to be bossy pricks, and women aren't.

I really am ambivalent about Ellen right now. I did not know of the Mariah Carey incident and some of the other details here. I really respected what she did for the LBGTQ community as the first out tv series star. I do think that she painted herself into a too good to be true corner by over-emphasizing how nice she is. Thi was probably due to her intense longing to be loved by everyone (paraphrasing her here) and her extreme success at helping people see that lesbains can be good and unthreatening people too. Unfortunately, it seems whenever someone's persona is pious with no dark side at all, there is always a dark side lurking. And when it comes out, are people ever realdy to pounce. I am disappointed too in Ellen, but I do think it is more complex than just to say she is a piece of shit. Perhaps she is, but I do think she was under a lot of pressure to be better than thou. It reminds me of how so many of the breakthrough Black entertainers also had to maintain this same image to their detriment (Diana Ross, MJ, Cosby, etc.)

You're really on the money with most of this.

I can't dismiss her contribution to the LGBTQ community, and to television with "The Puppy Episode" of her Ellen show, coming out in the 90s (when allegedly everyone was P.C. and liberal with the Clintons in office), yet the outcry was deafening sometimes. It killed her career for many years before someone took a chance on her for a talk show.

There are some videos (possibly from Nicki Swift) on YouTube about ellen's worst or most embarassing moments, or moments when stars gave it back to her.

As I noted (or someone did; I've slept since then), her joking behavior goes into the mean category. She goes too far thinking she's being extra with a joke, but she's really just being a mean girl under the happy lesbian guise.

I'm sure she'll talk to Variety or People or sit down with Diane Sawyer in 5 years and talk about it all, on her comeback tour. Or maybe not. I just know that the past Ellen is not today's Ellen. And whie I'm perfectly willing to let people grow and evolve, that also doesn't go without being checked.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

When all is said and done "just about" every show eventually ends. Ellen was on for 18 seasons and most shows can't claim that.
