Lisa Raye McCoy and former child star Parker McKenna Posey joining the cast on Season 2.

Lisey's Story is out on 🍎TV➕ today, first two episodes. It's an 8-part mini-series based on Stephen King's thriller of the same name. SK wrote the teleplay for the series.

15 minutes in and it's very much like the book so far. It's not how I pictured Lisey Landon, played by Julianne Moore, but she's always brilliant in everything she does. It also stars Clive Owen as Scott Landon (Lisey's now dead writer husband), Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Joan Allen.

Moore, King, and J. J. Abrams executive produce. The book is so textured and rich, so I'm excited to see how it all turns out on TV.

Just finished binge watching this series several years after it was released. It was surprisingly good and by Season two had a philosophical depth to it that enriched its already entertaining qualities. Laura Dern was wonderful, as was Diane Ladd as her mother.

Season 1: **** (of 5)

Season 2: ***** (of 5)

Season 2 (4.25 stars out of 5). I was hesitant to watch season 2, figuring there were only so many ways to milk the same cow. Surprisingly, Season 2 was better than Season 1. I was particularly impressed with how nuanced the writing and acting was of the mother character who was struggling to come to terms with learning that her son was gay. It also addressed mental illness and cultural issuea without heavy handedness.

Decided to check out a TV series I have never seen before, 1993 Brisco County Jr. First of all it stars Bruce Campbell, enough said. Just watched the 2 hour pilot movie, loved it. Love the sci-fi meets wild west theme of it. Also stars John "Gomez Adams" Austin, who is also great in the show. He kinda reminds of Doc Brown from back to the future.

Manifest and God Friended Me were my favorite network shows. Now that they're both gone there really is no reason for me to watch network television.

Yes, I think that is getting increasingly true for many people. Even the few shows I still watch - Gray's Anatomy and This is Us - I am about to quit due to a marked decline in quality, For nostalgic reasons, I hope they survive by putting out better product that people actually want to see. Also, I think it will always be important to have some type of tv available for those who can't afford subscriptions. This doesn't mean it should be trash tv. I guess the more creative types are drawn to the relative freedom of the streaming services. By the way, sorry your two shows got cancelled .

I forgot about PBS, mainly because their seasons are so short its almost like waiting an entire year for new episodes of their programs.

But yes PBS is notoriously consistent with reliable "old fogy" television, and what better way to end the week than with their Sunday night combo of "Miss Scarlet and the Duke" and the delightful "All Creatures Great and Small". Hopefully since they're hits now they'll at least get ten episode runs next year.

Just finished the most recent season of The Handmaid's Tale. Good heavens, this season was unlike any other! It took June & company into Canada, aunt Lydia takes a lesser role this season, and Fred & Serena are ...well, they're in a situation to say the least. I think it's their best one yet.

It took me a second to get used to the Aussie but I really enjoy this show. The lead character is a hitman/enforcer that also has an actual family life. It's a dark comedy and overall the writing is really good. There seems to be a theme of douchebags "getting what's coming to them" and that also keeps my attention. It reminds me of The Incredible Hulk - "you wouldn't like me when I'm angry"

I finished Them on Prime.

It was one of the most intense shows about race that I've ever seen. Episode 9 was rough, Episode 10 seem to plod along and almost felt low-key despite it being the finale. But, the intensity was there, just in a ...different (?) way.

Betty looks like Kristen Bell so much, I forget it's not her.

Anyway, definitely worth the watch. Just hold the fuck on.

ELITE - SEASON 5

I have to admit that I am not sure if I like this show even though I feel compelled to watch it. Most of the characters are unlikable, as each season has to build-up the whodunit case by suggesting that all of them could be potential murderers. Each episode is full of sex scenes, which I feel like a hypocrite watching after my earlier thread on how tv sex scenes generally are boring to me. These are relative titillating compared to most shows, but at times they just seem to be filler for the lack of a good screenplay. And the plot-lines are often ludicrous in the same way most soap operas are. Despite all the above, it is an engaging show that is hard not to watch,
