Help identifying an old movie :-s

Hello.

Can anyone tell me what this movie is? I have the vaguest memory of it and just can't place it. This is vague but it used to be on TV a fair bit!

There's a whirlpool or water portal people go through to get to another world/dimension and the film takes place in this other world

At the end they get attacked by a sea monster

Think it's 70s..?

Any suggestion would be brilliant confused crysball

I thought it might have been the Kirk Douglas movie The Final Countdown until you mentioned the sea monster. I can't think of anything it might be but I'll mention it to a friend of mine who's a real movie encyclopedia.

I asked my friend but he didn't know it. He did say that it sounded "like the kind of crap Doug McClure would be in" so I'm guessing kpowers might have nailed it.

KPOWERS AND EMMA THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

My husband has been driving me insane as we have been trying to identify this film. My memory was vague and it was okay, his memory was it was the greatest film ever being a little boy in 1980.. So now we will rewatch.. I'm not expecting much but you know.

In fairness, it was all kpowers. You don't need to thank me. I wasn't really any help at all.

So I just finished... I watched films in 4 parts because kids!

Really enjoyed it, especially the fact that you tbink its ended but it hasn't

Highlight was the flying piranhas

Other highlights include the hairstyle on the Atlantian guide in the white and silver..

I'm not good at film reviews but if I was going to give it 3/5 stars.. Feel like a bit more could have happened in Atlantis and a bit more development on the lives of the people there. Husband continues to give it 5/5 as a childhood classic

I really like older movies that aren't so special effect laden so am still so grateful for your help. I'm just about to watch humanoids of the deep as you suggested so will let you know on that..

There was a remake of Humanoids From The Deep in the 90s. Awful in every way. Although it does feature a young Walt Goggins. Who starred alongside Timothy "Deadwood" Olyphant in Justified. And Timothy Olyphant is probably the only man I'd consider leaving my husband for. So at least it has that going for it.

Also, how have I seen that but never seen the original?

I was not aware of that. Though I think I would still like the 1980 version better.

OK I really like late 70's early 80's sci-fi movies. Here are some more movies suggestions. Doug McClure is not in any of them though I could see him in them. I have a feeling you may have seen most if not all of them. I'm guessing if that's the case it's been many years. With that said I think it's time to check them out again.
