I drove my grandpa's car when I got out of the Navy. He died in 1987, just when I went into the Navy. When I was discharged in 1989, I needed a car. Grandma never drove, so she let me use his car.

It was a brown-ish 1969 Oldsmobile Delta 88. And it was fabulous.

It was just like this...

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

My mother had a Zephyr for a while when I got out of the Navy. Not sure why or how she got it. It didn't seem like her type of car. We always, always, had a Cutlass Supreme. Even the car my high school used for driver's ed was a new 1985 Cutlass Supreme. (My teacher, Ernie Daniels, used to let us play cassettes sometimes, and we used to blast Ice Cream Castles a lot.)

i owned a pristine 1974 Cutlass in 1997 till my x totalled it.

i paid 1.300 for it. It had 73.000 miles on it.

i sold it to a mover for 5 dollars just to get rid of it.

My parents had a '71 (or so?) Cutlass, gold w/ white interior. It still had that sporty look about it. After my folks divorced, mom got a Cutlass that was late 70s. They split in 1980, so it was older than that, but not by much. It was white with black interior. And in the Oklahoma sun, those seats were HOT AS FUCK!

Looking at Google images, I think mom's was probably a 74 or 75. I looked at the later 70s models and I just don't remember them that way. By 1979, it started to get more linear and squared off like they were in the 80s (before they did that chopped-off back thing).

I was always in love with Oldsmobile 442's as a kid. I just thought they were the coolest thing in the world.

Back in the 80s, when you bought an Oldsmobile, you got a cassette in the glove compartment, that had the Olds theme song on it. Paul and our friend Mike and Paul's cousin Mike went out to make their own Olds commercial. The car in the ad is Paul's car. They filmed it in and around Oklahoma City, in cousin Mike's neighborhood.

Here's their commercial for Paul's 1985 Oldsmobile Brougham.

Here's an original retro 1986 Cutlass commercial.

Oh man, my first car was a joke

My dad used to run an auto parts store, so he had the connections to find me a good car. Instead, he got me a rusted 96 red ford escort that had bayw as part of the license plate, and the previous owner had yellow palm trees stencilled on, not kidding. I concluded it belonged to some baywatch fanatic

Anyways the car was always shaky like it was having a fucking seizure, and it broke down too many times in the year I had it, so my cousin and I renamed the vehicle epileptic bimbomobile

And no, dad and I no longer talk

My first car was a 1970 Mach 1 Mustang - gold and black. It was in rough shape, holes in the floorboards and a gas guzzler like you've never seen, but totally awesome nonetheless!

haha I was born and raised in Oklahoma City.

talk about coinkydinks, Paul and I have had parallel lives. Both our parents divorced when we were young, dads moved to Tulsa, remarried, even wives names were similar. Both had step brothers. We both ended up Tulsa around the same time. I moved to NY in Oct 1997, he moved to Long Island for a job in 1998. Our maternal grandparents all died (or even were born) near or on the same dates in August. It just goes on and on. We've known each other since 1st grade, so I guess we'll always be tied.

I wish I could've been there to be part of his car commercial. I think it's rather impressive considering it was edited on a VCR, not a computer.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Mine was a 1970 red Ford Maverick I was driving around in 1986.

It belonged to my grand uncle who drove it sparingly as he got older.

His wife gave it to me after he passed in 1984. He also had a big green Pontiac Bonneville. I opted

for the sportier cooler looking Maverick.

Yeah, my brother went through that getting ripped off on first cars! razz lol That old Rambler was still running when I decided to move to another state, even though it leaked onto the driver's side floor board, the stick would get stuck, and the git-up-and-go was getting slow... lol I can't believe I was actually able to sell it for $600. eek
