C, be easy on Moonie. His dislike for the Lakers is natural. When a team wins more than 2 straight titles there's always a backlash among non-fans. When a team has a winning tradition there's always a backlash among non-fans. Besides, if you were a Portland Jail Blazer fan you'd hate the Lakers for running roughshod over them and treating them like their proverbial post season BEEEOTCH for 3 straight seasons too! And Moonie, Allas (they have NO Defense) has NO shot of winning anything more than a playoff series that isn't the WCF this season. Don't fool yourself. PAISLEY, !!! I hated the Lakers before they started winning. Kobe and Shaq are my least favorite players, and that extends back to when Shaq was in Orlando and Kobe chose to skip college when he had the grades. I think Dallas has a better shot than the Lakers this year, in all honesty. The fact that the Lakers are struggling this early in the playoffs seems to spell doom for them, if they can even escape the first round.

So you hated them before they started winning titles during the 40s and on into the 50s in the NBA's infancy??? I think Dallas has a better shot than the Lakers this year, in all honesty.
Even if Dallas gets further than the Lakers don't put your money where your mouth is that they'll win or even get to the NBA Finals. Dallas has fooled a lot of people. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

No. I hated them as soon as I discovered the air of "Showtime" that they had. They are the NBA equivalent of the Dallas Cowboys- all flash and no grace. I do like some Laker greats like Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Kareem, Byron Scott, James Worthy, etc., but I have always hated the team. Even if Dallas gets further than the Lakers don't put your money where your mouth is that they'll win or even get to the NBA Finals. Dallas has fooled a lot of people.
I think Sacramento will win. I do think Dallas has a better shot than L.A., though.

You mean like the grace the Jail Blazers have?
Hmm, lemme see...flash or grace...flash or grace...yeah, I'll take flash over grace as long as it results in championships. And what is this Dallas Cowboy nonsense? The Cowboys have more in common with the Blazers due to their jail time and drug use. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

Arrogance is just a huge turn off for me, and no one has more than L.A. I'd rather have a gracious loser than an arrogant winner.

And Cheeks was a Sixer, not a Blazer. He's a coach now, not a player. Arrogance is just a huge turn off for me, and no one has more than L.A.
Arrogance is always perceived when a team wins a lot, whether it's really there or not. I'd rather have a gracious loser than an arrogant winner.
That's why you've been rooting for the also-rans. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

He represents Portland now. Arrogance is always perceived when a team wins a lot, whether it's really there or not.
What about the Kobe/Shaq spat a few years back? Kobe wanted to be traded so he could lead the league in scoring and be MVP and criticized Shaq for being the star, and Shaq replied that the team should go through him, as they'd win it all if they did. Arrogance on full display. That's why you've been rooting for the also-rans.
I think I'll have to give up my love of sports just for the sake of sanity. I really have awful luck!

Why are you hanging onto this OLD stuff? If you were 24 would you like people to keep bringing up your mishaps, and mistakes that happened 4, 5, 6, 7 years ago? Really, I'll explain something: you're going by media reports (some which weren't totally accurate if you believe all parties involved) that blew the whole thing out of proportion because that type of story sells magazines, newspapers, gets ratings. I'm not saying there was never a rift, there was. Kobe has never been quoted as saying he wanted to leave "to lead the league in scoring." Kobe was a 17 year old kid when he came to the Lakers. Is it really possible that no other 17 year old has ever gone through growing pains of all of a sudden being in a foreign situation with other grown men, some who were 10 and 15 years older than him? And Shaq was never quoted as saying the team should go thru him; that's what his coach said. And why not? Shaq was the established star with a team that was built around him - Kobe was a young player who had yet to prove himself in the pros. He wasn't even a starter during his first year. And if memory serves me, not for his full second year either. Kobe had to learn how to become the player he is today WITHIN the confines of the offensive system that his coach set for the team. He had a problem with that. As a matter of fact, so did some of the other more athletic players that eventually were let go by the team. I think I'll have to give up my love of sports just for the sake of sanity. I really have awful luck!
At least you're not a bandwagon fan. Nothing worse than a bandwagon fan. I think C is a bandwagon fan. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

I lived one block from the forum and saw them (in person) play at least ten times a year. I been to two of the championship celebrations back in the magic era. Bandwagon? The Niners you can kinda say so(i liked them when they picked up Deion). But the Lakers i was a fan from the womb. YOU HATER

Well, no wonder. Can you forgive me? I haven't left the niners since. I was a big deion sanders fan when he was with the falcons( i still have a deion falcon jersey). When he went to the niners i followed him there. But i hated his guts when he went to the cowboys(i hate the cowboys more than the raiders). 49er 4life edit [This message was edited Sun Apr 27 22:19:31 PDT 2003 by SuperC]
