3 nations arrive at Mars. A 295 million mile journey. United Arab Emirates Sarah al-Amiri, who leads the science portion of the mission, said she had felt a full of range of emotions when the spacecraft was launched last summer. But as it approached Mars, she said, “This is further intensifying them.”.
The mission is to spend at least two years studying how dust storms and other weather conditions near the surface affect the speed at which Martian air is leaking away into outer space. The Hope SpacecraftThe United Arab Emirates’ first Mars mission aims to investigate the Martian atmosphere. The orbiter’s giant solar panel wings will deploy in space after launch.
The Hope mission is an unusual collaboration ...ce Physics, a research institute at the University of Colorado that has been working on space missions for more than half a century.
China China's Tianwen-1 mission successfully reached Mars orbit on Wednesday after a nearly 7-month journey from Earth, Chinese state-run news agency Xinhua confirmed.
China's ambitious Tianwen-1 mission features an orbiter, a lander and a rover. Tianwen-1 means "Questions to Heaven" and comes from an ancient Chinese poem, Xinhua reported.
Tianwen-1 is expected to orbit Mars over the next few months and survey potential landing sites for a May or June landing. After the landing, the rover will explore the Red Planet and conduct scientific experiments, according to Xinhua.

Perseverance, nicknamed Percy, is a car -sized Mars rover designed to explore the Jezero crater on Mars as part of NASA 's Mars 2020 mission. It was manufactured by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and was launched on 30 July 2020, at 7:50 a.m. EDT (11:50 UTC ), and is scheduled to land on Mars on 18 February 2021, 3 p.m EST/8 p.m UTC.
Ingenuity, a technology experiment, is preparing to attempt the first powered, controlled flight on the Red Planet.
The helicopter, which weighs about 4 pounds (1.8 kilograms) on Earth and has a fuselage about the size of a tissue box, started out six years ago as an implausible prospect. Engineers at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California knew it was theoretically possible to fly in Mars’ thin atmosphere, but no one was sure whether they could build a vehicle powerful enough to fly, communicate, and survive autonomously with the extreme restrictions on its mass.
At the landing site of Jezero Crater, Perseverance will seek signs of ancient life and demonstrate technologies for making oxygen from the Martian atmosphere, provide surface weather updates, and demonstrate the first controlled, powered flight on another planet with the Ingenuity helicopter.
During the webinar, NASA science, technology, and engineering experts involved with the mission will share more about how technology developments have enabled a return to Mars and will advance exploration of it in the future with both robots and astronauts. Time keeps on slipping into the future...

A giant antenna constructed in north China is now ready to support the Tianwen-1 Mars mission and future deep space endeavors. "The construction of the antenna is intended to receive weak scientific exploration data from Mars which is 400 million kilometers away from the Earth," Li Chunlai, deputy chief designer of China's first Mars exploration project, told Chinese media. Construction of the facility began in October 2018 and the huge 2,700-ton dish was hoisted to a height of 236 feet (72 m) last April. The dish comprises 1,328 high-precision panels and has an area of 49,000 square feet (4,560 square meters), or around nine basketball courts. It was officially handed over to the National Astronomical Observatory of China (NAOC), the dish's operator, on Feb. 3. Time keeps on slipping into the future...

List of countries with missions to Mars are as follows: China. India. Japan. Russia. Soviet Union. United Arab Emirates. United Kingdom. United States. and not one of those countries has ever sent a craft outside of the Earth's atmosphere.. not one...there is no evidence anywhere...the pictures youve seen of "Mars" and other alleged spacial bodies are not actual photographs, but merely illustrations and artististic renderings.. it is impossible to breach the Earth's atmosphere and firmament and enter so-called "space"... the "space programs" of all these different countries is a multilateral fraud... a great deception upon the inhabitants of the Earth... a co-ordinated effort by several nations...just like the coordinated military and government treaties that are in place to preserve and conceal the REAL truths about Antarctica. The entry, descent and landing of the spacecraft on Feb. 18, 2021 will take only seven minutes. The car-size Perseverance rover, the centerpiece of NASA's $2.7 billion Mars 2020 mission, will hunt for signs of ancient life, collect and cache samples for future return to Earth and help demonstrate a variety of new exploration technologies, among other tasks. But before it can get started on any of that groundbreaking work, Perseverance must ace its touchdown inside Mars' Jezero Crater on Feb. 18. There's no guarantee that the rover will survive this harrowing ordeal; over the years, just 40% of all Mars surface missions have landed successfully. That depressing figure is skewed by a lot of failures in the first few decades of the Space Age, however. NASA's recent Red Planet track record is quite encouraging (knock on wood), and Mars 2020 will employ a proven landing strategy — the "sky crane" technique used successfully by its predecessor, the Curiosity rover, which touched down in August 2012 and remains active today. Here's a brief rundown of the Mars 2020 mission and its upcoming entry, descent and landing (EDL) operations to get you ready for the big day. .... Curiosity has been assessing the habitability of ancient Mars and investigating the planet's long-ago transition from relatively warm and wet to extremely cold and dry. The Mars 2020 mission, which launched on July 30, 2020, will take the next step, actively hunting for signs of ancient Red Planet life. No surface mission has ever done this, though NASA's twin Viking landers did look for extant Mars life after they touched down in 1976. Perseverance will also help bring the Mars life hunt down to Earth. The rover will collect and store several dozen samples, which a joint NASA-European Space Agency campaign will haul to our planet as early as 2031. Once the pristine Mars material is on the ground, scientists in labs around the world can scrutinize it using far more powerful and precise equipment than a single rover can carry to the Red Planet. The 2,260-lb. (1,025 kilograms) Perseverance is also carrying an instrument called MOXIE, which is short for "Mars Oxygen In-Situ Resource Utilization Experiment." (And ISRU stands for "in situ resource utilization.") MOXIE will generate oxygen from the thin, carbon dioxide-dominated Martian atmosphere, showcasing tech that, if scaled up, could help humanity get a foothold on the Red Planet, NASA officials have said. I could literally overwhelm this server (I will not) with information regarding Perseverance alone provided by literally hundreds to thousands of individuals both live and dead. Covering details few if anyone on here has even thought about. Yet your most affirming proof on the takedown of all of NASA is a Utube vid of footage over 2.5 decades old that iirc even Kubrick is said to have debunked. I mean what? I thank you for your permission to believe as I so choose. .... Anyway... Ingenuity's Flight Plan The drone will not fly immediately after the Perseverance Mars rover lands. It must first survive the landing, assuming it also withstood the launch and interplanetary transit. Then it must deploy safely from the Mars rover's belly, autonomously stay warm through the Martian nights, and autonomously charge itself with its solar panel. Lockheed Martin (LMT) provided the Mars Helicopter Delivery System, which deploys Ingenuity for flight, as well as Perseverance's aeroshell, which will keeps the rover cool through space and the Martian atmosphere. The helicopter could fly a few weeks after Perseverance lands. If the Ingenuity succeeds in its first flight, it will attempt up to four other test flights within a 30-Martian-day (31-Earth-day) window. NASA hopes Ingenuity will help prove the concept for future Mars helicopters to be used for scouting, carrying payloads, and exploring areas that are too dangerous for a rover to enter. The launch of a rocket carrying China's Chang'e-5 lunar probe
THE MOONRETURN TO THE MOON...Extensive government spending is spurring the most intense lunar R&D since the Apollo program. 2019 saw the landing of China’s Chang’e 4 lander and surface exploration by their Yutu 2 rover, along with the landing failures of Israel’s Beresheet lander and India’s Vikram lander. While we won’t see another US-built lunar landing until at least 2021, NASA’s Artemis program is providing funding to advance many nascent space resource technologies while promising to return people to the Moon.
China continued progress on its ambitions space program by landing the Chang’e 4 lander in Von Kármán crater[8] on the far side of the Moon on January 3, 2019. This was the first mission to land on the far side of the Moon, requiring a dedicated communications relay satellite in orbit to maintain communication between Earth and the lander. The lander hosted a biosphere where cottonseed, rapeseed, and potato seeds all sprouted a few days after landing, although they all succumbed to the extreme cold of the lunar night.
Additionally, the Yutu-2 rover far surpassed its 3 month planned life, holding the current record as the longest surviving lunar rover. Both the lander and rover use solar power for electricity generation and radioisotope heater units for heat generation. Chang’e 4 paves the way for China’s Chang’e 5 mission that is planned to launch in 2020. Chang’e 5 is expected to collect and return up to 2 kilograms of lunar material to Earth, the first lunar samples since the Russian Luna 24 mission in 1976.
Israel’s Beresheet lunar lander had less success at landing on the Moon. While descending towards the surface, an anomaly occurred that caused the lander to descent too quickly and crash into the surface. This was the first privately funded lander to touchdown (albeit in a crash) on the Moon. SpaceIL has indicated its drive to try another lunar landing soon.
India also experienced a failed lunar landing with their Vikram lander. A computer anomaly occurred during descent that caused the lander to crash into the surface at high speed. Despite this, the Chandrayaan-2 orbiter has continued to operate successfully, providing very high quality images of the lunar surface. Its mission is to survey the abundance of lunar water, providing guidance for follow-on missions.
Not being content with only small lunar landers, NASA invited additional commercial firms[9] capable of providing larger landers to the CLPS initiative, including Blue Origin, Sierra Nevada, and SpaceX. These three firms, in addition to Boeing, are also contending for NASA’s Human Landing System (HLS) program, which will deliver humans to the lunar surface within the Artemis program. Artemis is unique compared to the Apollo program because the stated goal is to not only return humans to the Moon, but to establish a sustainable, long-term presence on the Moon.
Rather than developing lunar landers in-house, NASA is soliciting public-private partnerships with companies to develop these next generation landers. Multiple payload delivery services should foster competition, lower costs, and increase access for commercial operations on the lunar surface. NASA awarded three contracts in mid-2019 to Astrobotic, Intuitive Machines, and OrbitBeyond, who are required to build flight capable, small robotic landers capable of delivering at least 10 kg of payload by the end of 2021 (OrbitBeyond has since dropped out).
Despite NASA’s steadfast push towards realizing Artemis’ programmatic goals, a growing cohort of space exploration advocates believe that offworld settlements should be established without a bureaucratic government agency at the helm. The Open Lunar Foundation[10] came out of stealth mode in 2019, with a vision towards low-cost and open-source settlement of the Moon. While specific details are scant, the public figures supporting Open Lunar are major thought leaders with decades of space exploration experience, lending significant credibility to the venture. Despite the approach taken, establishing a sustainable lunar presence is the most critical objective.
The US government wants to return humans back to the Moon by 2024 through the Artemis program, an international collaboration between NASA, ESA, JAXA, CSA, and US commercial companies. Initialized via the 2017 Space Policy Directive 1, the program received its timeline and name during 2019. Multiple support programs and projects are part of the Artemis program, including the Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) program and the Volatiles Investigating Polar Exploration Rover (VIPER). Additionally, Artemis requires launch vehicles capable of delivering the Orion, Lunar Gateway, and CLPS landers to the Moon. The Space Launch System (SLS) is NASA’s primary ride at the moment, although unexpected delays may change this. Time keeps on slipping into the future...
