Had a bad confrontation with strangers today

Thought I would share this because something like this has NEVER happened to me before.I am still in shock about it

So We were at a domino's drive thru and some random truck pulled up and tried to block us in.They were a big hairy guy who looked like a biker with a beer gut.He looked like a ex member of The Hells Angel's biker gang and a old woman.
They said something to us but the windows were up so then I rolled down the windows cuz I thought they might've been some people dad knew from group. So I rolled the windows down and they both said earlier today that we threw something at their truck .My father told them we didn't do it but they kept saying yes.
This went out for 5 minutes then my father said drive off and I did.and as I was driving off I heard the man say "yeah you drive off buddy i got your number" and i could hear the woman reading the license plate number out loud.then I looked in the mirror and could see they were trying to follow us but the driver couldn't get his door to shut
So we left and luckily a car got in between us and the light was green for me but turned red for them so he didn't see where we lived.but as were sitting their the dominos employee was watching the whole argument at the window
I just thought it was kinda humorous that I completely forgot about the dominos lady when I saw the 2 accusers. The employee gave us the pizza but then had to go get the 2 liter and after she went to get the accuser's pulled up.So I was being accused and looked back over to the drive thru window and the employee was just standing their watching the whole thing with a 2 liter soda in her hand.

Was I right in just driving off or should I have just called the cops? What would you have done?

Drive off. Avoid confrontation as much as possible, especially these days. Folks are NUTZ.

As far as their accusations, the burden of proof remains with them. And since there is no video of you doing it, seeing as how you didn't do it, then you really don't have much to worry about. Clearly it seems a case of mistaken identity or something. It's also not something a cop or a prosecutor is going to engage with, nor would a judge take anything seriously (again: burden of proof).

I don't see a need to file a report with the police. They yelled at you, but if they didn't damage your car, or put hands on you or injure you in any physical fashion, then there was no crime committed. Just a high level of idiocy.

So unless the police show up at your house, just let it go. If they do show up, tell 'em what happened. You have nothing to hide.

In fact, I'd ask the cop, should it come to that, to get a timeline of events from the other person - like when did it happen? Where? And if you had receipts, texts or anything that shows you in another location at that time, then that's your alibi.

Don't expect an apology from these jokers. Don't give them power over you and let them live in your head.

Yeah you make some great points.I know we didn't do it because the man said we threw something at his truck earlier today and it was at a town that is about 20 miles from me.Dominos is about 5 minutes from me and that is only place we went to today.Their are a lot of cars that are similar to mine so I guess he had to have us mixed up
My father got a better look at the accusers and he said their eyes were almost bulging out of their heads and looked like they might be on crack.
But it was terrifying. Not only was he a big man but he might've had a weapon. But yes like you say,we are innocent so we shouldn't worry
I feel this world is getting crazier and crazier.Cant even go pick up a pizza in peace

And just for the record, I don't want people to think I was dismissive of the trauma of the situation. I'm mouthy online and shit, but in person, I'm not that way all the time. I've had people just yell at me in public, or just raise their voice, because they thought I wronged them in some way (people in grocery stores are bonkers sometimes). It's an assault on the soul, and it really can shake you up inside. I deal with anxiety anyway, so not that all confrontations aggrevates it, but many certainly do. So I get what you must be feeling. A bit put off, confused (ie: WTF?), offended.

And listen, the up swing is this: if they were on drugs, then they probably have zero idea what's happened today anyway. Their short term memory is gone. So don't let it control ya.
