Scottish actor Sean Connery, the first actor to play James Bond on film and for many fans the best, has died. He was 90.

Bond producers EON Productions confirmed his death, first reported by the BBC.

Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said they were "devastated by the news."

2020 has also killed Bond, James Bond. THE James Bond. Wth

sad sad

Grew up with the Scottish legend, like a grandpa on the screen. '60s Bond, Name of the Rose (great movie to watch as a kid!), Untouchables, The Last Crusade, The Rock, the Entrapment. Watched the Man Who Would Be King in my '20s. October Hunt bored me to tears, though.

His career had two rocky eras (68-70) and (77-85) but he bounced back twice, culminating in a well-deserved Academy Award in 1987 (Scottish-Irish Chicago cop) and Legendary status in Hollywood in 1988-2003. I wish he had done at least a couple of movies after 2003, but it seems he genuinely lost all interest in cinema.

Not the most progressive man in the world (a product of his time? '40s-'80s?), but that nonsense about being a woman-beating prick is just that, nonsense. That famous Youtube interview has been taken out of context by millenials and revisionists. A gentleman according to everyone he worked with, male and female, and apparently had tons of patience during difficult productions and with average filmakers and actors/actresses.

He was a great all around actor that elevated every film he was in. I wasn't a huge Bond fan, but I love The Untouchables, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Time Bandits.
