The twist at the end of 'Us' was stupid. Deduct another star.

The world's problems like climate change can only be solved through strategic long-term thinking, not expediency. In other words all the govts. need sacking!

If you can add value to someone's life then why not. Especially if it colors their days...

The Godfather, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone (2020) I think the edits does improve the pacing, there is not much clutter, and its easier to understand. Plus, Sofia's acting doesn't seem so wooden. However, its still the weakest of the 3 films, that really didn't need to be made because The Godfather 11 (1974) ended the saga so beautifully. I give it a 3 out of 5 popcorn

Yeah, we could have done without this one.

I saw this and wondered all the same things you mentioned. Thanks!

Star Wars Episode VIII -- The Last Jedi (2017)

TLJ remains my favorite of the sequels. Though flawed, it forces us to rethink the gray areas of the Skywalker Saga. The Throne Sequence and the Ren-Luke confrontation were two of my favorite sequences since the OT.

Star Wars Episode IX -- The Rise of Skywalker (2019)

TROS plays out like an episode of Clone Wars, which is better left to Dave Filoni. But I think J.J. Abrams did a good job of tying together threads from the prior two sequels. It was fan-servicey, but what the hey, I'm a fan. lol

The Lord of The Rings - Return of the King (2003)

Holds up very well over time.

American Woman finally seen the entire movie. 4/5 In a small blue-collar town in Pennsylvania, a 32-year-old woman's teenage daughter goes missing. Left to raise her infant grandson alone, she desperately seeks the answers behind her daughter's disappearance.

Don't know how I missed seeing this one all these years! lol Worth it just to see Harvey Keitel, EW&F, and hear their tunes. Very 70ish. 3 outa 5.

Wonder Woman 1984 (1984)

The sequel matches the intensity and magic of the original but the third act is hokey and had a Quest For Peace feel to it. But it was fun, and Kristen Wiig and Pedro Pascal were good. Chris Pine was as well.

As for the lead, I could watch Gal Gadot microwave leftovers for two hours and be happy. She makes it starstarstar

We couldn't get WW 1984 to play despite having hbo max. confused

The Midnight Sky. 3/5. All the right elements just missing that bit of emotional connection to the characters and you're left with one major question at the end. But it was a beautiful ending.

A lone scientist in the Arctic races to contact a crew of astronauts returning home to a mysterious global catastrophe.

Margot

"Let Them All Talk" with Meryl Streep, Dianne Wiest and Candace Bergen, directed by Steven Soderbergh.

3 grand dames and exquisite cinematography. It was a bit non-linear but it kept me engaged.

4 Stars.

yeahthat it was campy fun with a dollop of cheese and it was occasionally bonkers. Plus, watching it gave me that 70s Wonder Woman series (in particular Season's 2 & 3) vibe, but on a $200 million budget. Nevertheless, that post credit scene was pure GOLD wink I give it a 4 out of 5 popcorn

St. Elmo's Fire (1985)

Hadn't seen this even though it came out when I was in high school. Dated and campy, the movie depicts how teenagers think young adults live. Some good stuff here but not enough.

Wonder Woman 84 - 3/10

.

The best thing about the movie is the gorgeous Gal Gadot. She is the only special effect that any movie needs. Everything else about the movie is pretty bad.

.

This time around, the movie's tone has shifted more heavily towards camp. But to pull off camp, it has to be elevated in some way. Camp works when it fun and knowing, this movie just plays it as dumbed down instead of fun or knowing.

.

The director who I have seen best able to carry fun superhero camp is Gurdians Of The Galaxy director James Gunn. He is nimbly able to bring the most prepostreous aspects of superhero movies and make it work perfectly somehow. He gets it. He knows the tone neccesarry to carry a campy superhero movie. This movie doesnt seem to know or understand the tone they want for the movie. And this also pretty much sums up the current state of the DC cinematic superhero universe.

.

At any rate, the movie is just a hot mess. I honestly do not know who their target demo was supposed to be for this movie, Is it for little girls and a great role model for them? I don't think so. It certainly isn't for teen boys even though Gal Gadot will certainly please them. It certainly isn't for adults, even though likewise Gal Gadot wil certainly likewise please adult movie goers

.

DC and Warner Bros need to figure out where they want to take the DC universe becaue they don't seem to have a clue.
