Help. Please advise!

Hey Org. Long time no see. Been busy recently but I have a few days to myself so I thought I'd ask for some advice on something.

So, I'm just about finished Christmas shopping (I know) so I thought I'd check my bank account to see the damage. And I noticed something really strange. Last Tuesday I had a substantial lodgement in my account. Just over €21,000. I have no idea where it came from. Surely this is a mistake. Has this ever happened to anyone else on here? What did you do? Should I contact my bank and let them know?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Contact your bank and have them investigate it.

I sent an email and got an automated reply telling me someone will contact me within 2 working days. Weird situation though, isn't it? I wonder if they'll give me some sort of reward for bringing it to their attention?

I don't have the time to go or wait for hours on hold to get through on the phone. The last few weeks have been crazy busy. The small amount of free time I get I just want to relax. Which doesn't happen often because even just typing this reply has taken me 15 minutes because the baby woke up crying and I had to put him back down to bed. The email should suffice. Sure, my husband told me not to inform them at all. I believe his exact words were "fuck them".

Really, what I'm wondering is if this happened to anyone else and what came of it?

There is a pandemic going on, PLEASE do not go into the bank. You have a family to keep safe.

The bank will catch their mistake and take it out of your account, faster then you can blink an eye.

And heck, anymore the banks do everything online so there would be no reason to go in person.

Feels like the monolpoly card "bank error in your favor, collect $100" lol

I'd act like it didn't exist. If it's still there in six months then I'm with your husband.
