Because COVID is so bad and cases are rising all over the world, people need to stay home with just their immediate family. If a person lives alone, I believe they could go to a family members for a few hours, but otherwise stay home. This is what my husband and I will be doing. Unfortunately, we have to change the way we do things or this virus will only get worse. People need to stay away from all religious venues too. If your god is everywhere, there is no need to go to church.

This is where I'm at, too. My sister will be coming back to Wisconsin from Arizona - and both of her kids have already had COVID, so I'm hoping to spend Christmas (safely) with them.

I'm also hoping my friends will have a little (six people) outdoor get-together on Christmas Adam (the night before Christmas Eve is Christmas Adam). Gather around the fire pit, drink some smoking bishop, and have a few snacks.

I have been super diigent about staying away from people. But TBH, between COVID and having to get my dad into hospice care this week, I'm pretty well shot, emotionally. If I have a chance to be with people in a lower-risk way, I'm taking it.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Im with all of you. Covid cases are at an all time high in the U.S. People are letting their guard down and appear really anxious about skipping or scaling down celebrations this year. I think we will be in a much better place with all of this next year so I dont have a problem not participating in events this year. But I do understand why some people are experiencing great difficulty with remaining still.

Food. In massive, MASSIVE quantities.

Luckily, I don't need to leave my house to see my family. Much to my husband's chagrin, my house has kind of turned into a refuge for the Cunninghams (my family). My cousin and her son live with us anyway. My little sister has been staying with us for the last few months because our auntie is unwell and my brother has come home from France until March so he'll be staying with us til then. And then there's my daughter and son too. So other than my older sister, who I don't want to see anyway, and my auntie, all my immediate family live with me.

Pretty much the same as every year. Except no visit to aunt's house.

I agree with staying out of religious venues. I haven’t gone since they closed and some re opened. I would rather go when social distancing ends and meanwhile will pray from home

Since 2000, I've spent Christmas by myself.

I think my roommate may be staying home this year, so we may have it together.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Actually, the latest findings indicate that that's not the case. There does seem to be some immunity - the question is how long it lasts.

For the last 10 years I've reoriented myself to really celebrate Christmas from the beginning of Decemeber - the Feast of the 3 Kings

And I use this time to have small intimate gatherings over the month. Christmas will be 5 of less. Depending on the weather, I will have some outdoor stuff. Nothing is going to change for me.

Christmas Orament hunting road trips, meeting up with a friend or two(or coworkers) at a venue/bar, any safe Christmas events, movie night, game night, food, Christmas music etc

I DESPISE Christmas.

I spend money I don't have, go places I don't want to and spend time doing things I don't care about with people I dislike. I'm a big old grinch.

It's fun watcing my son opening his toys and playing with them - watching his face light up - but beyond that you can keep it. I'm not religious and hate the stress, the deadline, the music, the ads and the stupid made up controversy of the "War on Christmas". The whole thing feels cheap and phony to me. Commercial. Bullshit like "Black Friday", pretentious religious types and the never ending advertising suck the ever loving life out of me.

I like the lights and the ambience they can create but by and large you can keep this horrible holiday and give me Halloween (which I call "Daddy Christmas"), since that's so much more fun.

To answer your question, I'm going to sleep in, buy and eat some food I don't usually splurge on (crab legs or something) then watch my kid open his presents, play his new video games with him, maybe build a hot wheels track, drink heavily and then probably watch Elf or something like that.
