best tips and mindset to lose weight

i can't believe how big i've gotten

i'm not reeeeaal big, but compared to two years ago, i'm thicc....and NOT the good kind of thicc.... thicc in ALL the WRONG PLACES...

anyways, obviously the qurantine played a huge role.... i personally qurantined myself March -- June.. just had to go back to work, been very careful since

then I also have had a beer problem.... add that plus eating pizza late at night after work...yeah.. lol a lot of exercise at work but it didn't do me any good with all the carbs i got from beer.... sticking to vodka if i want to drink my feelings away..

that leads me to the other reason i feel as to why i got fat-ish recently.... depression....a few things set it but its been rough... get panick attacks and i grab comfort snacks...

i feel a lot better now tho...surpised i haven't gone into a little manic euphoria phase yet... thats what usually what happens after a period of depression for me...

but I'm riding my bike again, starting to dance again (when i wake up and before sleep)

but i can NOT seem to get into a good groove for my diet... idk whats wrong with me... idk if i'm home too much or what...

what are good diets some of you have tried? I heard about extreme diets i wanna try like one apple a day (Joaquin Phoenix did this to lose weight for the role of Joker) but then again that doesn't seem so healthy lol

See your doctor. Get referred to a dietician. Exercise. Exercise and diet go hand in hand.

Ignore the title, this is a book of healthy meals to make written by a guy who hates cooking, so easy to use.

I think you've self-identified a lot of your problems, I think you know what you have to do. Of course, the hardest part is doing it.

It sounds like you are in a similar position to where I was three years ago. I have always said that if you are not in the right place with your mental health then losing weight is ten times more difficult because people often self-medicate with food. I know I did.

The good news is that your mental health is improving, and I think that the fact you want to do something shows your mindset is setting yourself new goals. For me dietwise, I stuck to three (large but healthy) meals a day, with no snacking inbetween apart from fruit. I cannot tell you how hard it was to wean myself off snacks. I would go for long walks just to stop myself dipping in the chocolate cupboard and, when I did slip up, I would look at the calorie content of what I had eaten and go on the treadmill to burn it off (which often took what felt like forever). This was extreme, but it worked for me. Oh, and I always allowed myself a pudding after my main meal to get my sugar fix.

You're riding your bike and dancing, which is great, just keep pushing yourself a little more each day. Try to get in your 5 fruits and veg a day. I cut out bread completely for a while, you've identified beer and late-night pizza - maybe they are what you need to go cold turkey on?

I found once the weight started to come off, it became much easier. I got a bit hooked on seeing the scales going down. In hindsight I probably went a bit too far, too quickly, but I cannot tell you how much I hated the flab. I lost 50lbs in around 4 months.

Sadly, even a quick fix is not a permanent fix and I still have to watch what I eat, though I'm easier on myself than I was. I still work out, and I still try to challenge myself. Lockdown baking did lead me a little way back down the wrong path diet-wise, but I'm turning it back around now. You can do this. You want it. All you have to do is put in the effort and the willpower to get it (I know that's easier said than done). I wish you every bit of success. Keep us posted.

I've never been even remotely overweight so feel free to take my advice with a pinch of salt. My ex boyfriend, however, has always been quite big. And it was only at the start of lockdown that he decided to do something about it. And in the last 5 months he's lost nearly 5 stone, which is about 70 pounds. He still does fuck all exercise. He goes for a walk (not a run or a jog) every morning and every night. But that's about it. The only thing he does differently is he's changed his diet.

My husband is, let's say a "sporty individual". Extremely fit and looks like he's been chiselled from granite. In other words, he's always looked after himself. He gave my ex some dieting tips and they definitely seem to be working. Basically, it's like this. In order to lose weight all you need to do is eat right. Cut out all junk food. Chocolate, crisps, fizzy drinks, pizza etc. Eat 3 meals per day with no snacking in between. No cheating. It sounds simple, no? My ex has been doing it for 5 months and it really works.

Exactly. Thankfully i shook off the beer crave about a good 3 weeks. Now just gotta make sure I don’t drink vodka every single night because that certainly isn’t good.

It certainly is easier said, but i’ve done it before... though i was even bigger then. I’m thankful I haven’t reached that point. But yeah if i keep it up then thats where i’ll go

I’m 5’4 (just 2 inches taller than Prince). I was 180 pounds 3 years ago. I did not feel good about myself. I feel I’m somewhere between 145-155 rn. Don’t wanna look at the scale tho.
But i got down to 124 2 years ago. I miss that look and everything. I always said to myself i had a skinny personality. (Ik that sounds weird but it helped motivate me)

Maybe i’ll take jujitsu classes or something.

Avoid simple sugars, get enough sleep, avoid fried foods, work out and try to do more weighlifting than cardio (but cardio is great, too). Drink enough water.

But avoiding sugars and sleeping more would be the easiest first steps.

I did notice you said a bit of euphoria often follows depression. There may be a touch of biochemistry.

I might mention it to your MD. (Please don't worry, just something I noticed)

This is great advice.

I've been battling my own weight issues, these are some thoughts I use to keep my head in the game.

• Watching documentaries on the food industry and sugar helped get my mind around food.

• The body can survive 2 weeks without food but only 2 days without water...is that really hunger you're feeling? Drink some water and wait an hour and see if you're still hungry.

• The weight loss industry is multi-billion dollar a year industry - corporations keeping us fat with convenient garbage food is not an accident. Sugar is in EVERYTHING, read the labels and it will give you a reality check.

• If a meal takes a few minutes to prepare and eat, what's in it to make that possible and is that good for your health?

• Eat less of everything...I was taught to finish everything on my plate but why was the plate as big as my head? Get a smaller plate and you're eating less without it being obvious.

• Cooking and preparing meals takes effort and planning, are you eating garbage because you are too lazy to do the work? When you make food yourself you know what's in it and it generally taste better.

• Habits and repetition are how EVERYTHING in life is accomplished. What you do every single day is who you are. Change what you do every day and realize that the long-term is where change happens. We expect too much to happen in too short of time, that's not reality.

• Realize when you're using food for emotional comfort and do something else. This is the hardest one for me as I used food to deal with loss. Self care and exercise has helped me with this one but the struggle is real.

I'm telling myself these things as much as I'm posting it for others, changing your lifestyle is a work-in-progress. Be sure to cut yourself a break if you back slide on what you eat, just get back to it the next day (habits).

Hope any of this helps...

Replace sugar drinks with non suger drinks.

Replace unhealthy snacks with healthier options.

Have cheat days.

Don't keep the cheat foods or drinks in your house. I drink soda pop occasionally when I'm out in about (not stored at my house).

Work out and find activities that you enjoy to keep moving.

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

ESPECIALLY in the drinks... most people drink more often than they eat...its fucked up that you can get 2 liters of soda for 80 cents, and people buy it up because its cheap and sometimes delicious...but its so cheap because its pure poisonous food colorings and toxic fake sugars and Malic Acids...they want us to buy and drink that sugary shit so we can make the doctors, dentists and pharmaceutical companies rich with our diseases and high blood pressures and decaying teeth, and obesity... you trace the dollar signs and the paperwork up the ladder high enough, in some cases youll find the same corporations/monopolies that are poisoning you by selling you garbage to eat & drink, are the same corporations/monopolies that are selling you the so called "cures" when youre sick or dying...if not the same, theyre willingly complicit with each other on a business level

It depends on age, hormones genetics! Seeing a doctor and nutritionist is imperative.

Portion control for breakfast, lunch, dinner. Eating more fresh fruits and vegetables. Avoiding carbs, sugar, alcohol, junk food, processed foods.

Reading food labels, counting calories, moderate exercise, walking more, drinking enough water.

I like reading books by: Dr. Eric

Braverman, he wrote books/is an expert on health and reversing some health issues. And he is a capricorn!
