Cobra Kai (major spoilers) so who’s seen it? So who’s watched it? I LOVED this show and after a few eps our of morbid curiosity, I got my nephew 12, and watched karate kid with him and then started the series again. It was so fun and I enjoyed the gratuitous use of fan service call backs. Johnny was awesome. Tommy going home in a body bag was one of the darkest but funny call backs I’ve seen. Twisted as fuck. BUT I’ve just seen the last ep of season 2 and for now, it’s ruined it for me. It was so dark. The big battle was too intense for what had been a fun show and what happened to Miguel was sickening. And fuck Kreese. That aside. If you’re child of the 80s, and loved the movies, this is must see TV. If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it! |

Yes. It’s set 34 years after Karate Kid, it stars Ralph Macchio as Danny and William Zabka (the same actor) as Danny’s nemesis Johnny Lawrence. It is littered with gratuitous call backs to all three original movies and is super fun. Danny Larusso has a successful car dealership and Johnny is a down on his luck bum This time, there’s no clear good guy/bad guy. It was initially on YouTube red so went under the radar but has recently had the first two seasons (3rd coming) uploaded to Netflix. Yep, another binger here. I couldn't stop watching it. Every time someone made an appearance, I was screaming, "YES!" I made my daughter watch the originals with me so she could understand why I was excited about seeing Cobra Kai. She even got into the series, somewhat. | |

That along with the humour has been the highlight. The good guy, bad guy cliche is lazy writing. There was a tongue in cheek YouTube video years ago that pushed the case that Johnny was the victim all along. Hard not to fall in love with his character in this.
