The Devil All The Time (2020)

Movie starring Tom Holland and Robert Patterson and that guy who played John Connor in that Terminator reboot you already forgot existed and some other great actors and actresses

You can get this movie on Netflix.

Plot Synopsis:

"Set in rural southern Ohio and West Virginia, The Devil All the Time follows a cast of compelling and bizarre characters from the end of World War II to the 1960s. There's Willard Russell, tormented veteran of the carnage in the South Pacific, who can't save his beautiful wife, Charlotte, from an agonizing death by cancer no matter how much sacrificial blood he pours on his "prayer log." There's Carl and Sandy Henderson, a husband-and-wife team of serial killers, who troll America's highways searching for suitable models to photograph and exterminate. There's the spider-handling preacher Roy and his crippled virtuoso-guitar-playing sidekick, Theodore, running from the law. And caught in the middle of all this is Arvin Eugene Russell, Willard and Charlotte's orphaned son, who grows up to be a good but also violent man in his own right."

MY REVIEW:

JESUS CHRIST (no pun intended), that was such a ride! It takes me A LOT for me to get interested in a movie that isn't filled with either action or comedy. This movie is not caked with action -- there are some good comedic relief moments, but for the most part it stays gritty; if anything there's some good dark humor -- yet it has all the right ingredients to pull you in! I love Tom Holland, he's such a talented, beautiful, versatile actor at a young age. This young man does his thing! In real life he has a british accent, so when I first saw him as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in 'Captain America: Civil War,' I was blown away at such a great job he did with the Queens accent. In this film, he does it again but with a more appropriate, southern accent. Each character in this movie is demented and tortured and delusional to some degree. Basically, they've all seen a lot of shit, especially Tom Holland's character. There's good things that come out of having faith in Jesus, or some god, and then there's bad things.... this movie is a great example of the bad things, where people get to the point of deluted, or even use religion to manipulate others into getting what they want. One review on IMDB reads: "All psychopaths packed into one movie. If you want to lose faith in humanity, watch this."

And what a fine description. Its dark, gritty, sad and very creepy... the movie is very long, yet the storyline and pacing is so well done that you'll never lose interest and feel sad when the ride is over, wanting more...yet satisfied with the conclusion.

MY RATING:

8/10

Very good film which I thought was about paranormal activities, a horror film.
