The ending/climax scenes of the original "When A Stranger Calls"(1979) and (the TV version) "Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark".

As a young kid it would've been Creep Show. Probably the scene where the zombie(?) comes back saying "I want my cake". With that it might've been an accumulative thing because most of the stories and the segues were off-putting/eerie if not outright scary. I did see the movie years later and it didn't have quite the effect due to my age, the dated special effects, and my familiarity with it. Also, the first time I saw the movie I was away from home for the summer and it was storming outside.

As a young adult "The Ring" scared me a bit when the girl comes out of the well and through the t.v. "Insidious" scared me a bit when I got older. I think it was one of the final scenes and I can't quite remember the details but it's probably evident to whoever's seen it.

Yeah, these two made a big impression on me as well.

I remember watching Salems Lot alone at night when I was 15 and my parents were gone for the weekend. I smoked some pot beforehand. After the "boy in front of window" scene I freaked out, it was so creepy! We had huge glass sliding doors at the back of the living room that led to the (completely dark) garden and I was expecting that evil vampire boy to show up any moment. I didn't even dare to look that way anymore. So I stopped the movie and decided to go to bed. When I walked to the kitchen I glanced sideways at the sliding doors. Shivers went down my spine as I saw they were covered by hundreds of wasps!! Never before or after I have seen wasps on the sliding doors, I freaked out completely. I quickly went up to the attic where my sleeping room was situated. When I came to the top of the stairs I could see the lights in my room were still on. When I opened the door I saw dozens of wasps flying around in my room, the windows were open. I freaked out again and went downstairs to my parents bedroom. After an extensive 'wasp inspection' I decided the room was safe and I finally went to sleep...

Pet Semetary, shit man! That scene where the little kid was playing with the kite, walking towards the road with the parents not paying attention while having a family picknick, alternated by shots of a huge truck racing the road, the parents finally realising the danger, them running towards the road in an attempt to save the kid, them being too late and watching the kid being hit by the truck was gutwrenching. I could totally understand the dad wanting to bury his child at the ancient graveyard in an attempt to get him back to life...

The last one making a huge impression was "An American Werewolf In London". I saw it when I was 12 and sleeping over at a friends house while his parents were gone for the weekend. That scene where the main character was transforming into a werewolf for the first time was creepy as fuck! We decided to switch off the sound of the TV to make the film less scary, but the silence in the house and the creaking and ticking of objects that were cooling down made it even worse! So we watched the rest of the movie with the radio on, while reading the subtitles!

This one when i was 14 yo i was shitting myself in the movies.

I was barely out of kindegarten when I was terrified watching Kunta Kinte get captured in Roots and the crucifixion in Jesus of Nazareth. Those both scared the heck out of me. Later on, I was haunted by the ending to Planet of the Apes and the entire Texas Chainsaw Massacre .

Close Encounters of the Third Kind freaked me out too. Every time I saw the wind blowing for the next 3 years I thought the aliens were coming.

wow - yes, those are knd of terrifying images for kids to see!

Also I was deeply impressed by the series North & South as a kid. The scenes were the slaves were treated badly shocked me as a kid, I couldn't believe how unfair and sadistic people could be. The series made me hate racism ever since.

Good choice! I remember also being intrigued with The North and South since GWTW was pretty much the only detailed depiction of the Civil War for decades.

North and South was to 80's kids what Roots was to 70's kids.

Listen. When she came through that screen?!?!?! I was in my early 30's and went to see it thinking it couldn't be that bad. I was done with that movie from then on.

Pretty often this just pops in my head from out of nowhere and i get all jumpy.
This movie traumatized me when I was a kid. Being a made for TV movie/serie my parents thought it wouldn't be as scary as a regular horror movie, were they wrong tho. Every so often I my sister still brings this scene up whenever we're talking scary movies with her kids.

This movie has scared/scarred so many kids who watched it. That scene was just creepy as fuck for children. The screeching on the windows took it over the edge for me.
