Things That Piss Me Off - part 1 My son is feeling a bit under the weather at the moment. He's kept me up all night two nights in a row. So I'm operating on precisely zero sleep over the last two days. Tonight, he seems settled. That's good. I love my son and I'm happy for him that he's getting over the worst of it. HOWEVER, as I type this, it is 11:25pm here and tonight, of all nights, is the night where I just now notice how loud the "ticking" is on my clock. Unfortunately, my husband is not here and the clock is ever so slightly out of my reach. I mean, I can reach it. I'm not THAT short. But it would be a stretch and I can't be certain that I won't drop it when trying to take it off the wall. Which is probably a good thing because I'd probably launch it across the room as hard as I could if I could get my hands on it. Which would probably wake the baby and drive me even further into insanity. So I just lay here. Listening to the never ending "tick, tick, tick" as I slowly lose the will to live. Good times...

That's why I don't want to father any child on my own, I couldn't make it through without my 8 hours of sleep.

This is why I never want kids, even if I find a partner. We live in a scary world

I know the feeling. Sounds like that damn bird I wanted to choke. Nerve to be tweeting looking for a mate from 1-3am when I had a frikkin migraine. And the only damned bird out there making all that damned racket, too. She ain't gonna show, now shut up. Time keeps on slipping into the future...
This moment is all there is...

Husband got home this morning. First thing I had him do (well, the SECOND thing I had him do) was to smash that clock to pieces

Hang on... This too shall pass! Been there, done it. It helps to put on headphones and listen to a movie or music. A dart board is another option. Or ear plugs! It will get better! Another thing that irritates me beyond belief is being around people who are drunk. It doesn't matter what the occasion is. I can't stand being anywhere where alcohol is served. Now, I realise that goes against the Irish stereotype but that's just how it is. I don't drink alcohol at all. And for the life of me, I can't figure out why anyone would. My husband isn't a big drinker but he's definitely what I'd call a connoisseur of all things whiskey and bourbon. But crucially, he never gets drunk. Or if he does, I can't tell the difference. But unfortunately, anytime I go out I'm faced with a bunch of stumbling, rambling, incoherent dickheads who seem determined to show the world how big of an arsehole they are. I don't see the appeal. And it's a big reason why I don't go out on the town much anymore. Obviously marriage and children mean my going out time is limited but even so... When the opportunity arises or when I'm invited to a birthday party or a wedding or something I either don't go or I'll leave early. Because being around drunk people acting the fool makes me want to snap. My brother says I'm old before my time but I don't think that's it. People, in general, get on my nerves and when they're drunk, doubly so.

I don't get the appeal of drinkin neither, admittedly, is fun to get drunk once or twice a year though.

I agree. Don't forget how classy they get when they piss in some alley or when they vomit

Huge difference between "drinking" and "getting drunk".
I don't get drunk anymore (I did when I was a 17-25 yo brat), but now I just couldn't live without quality wine, champagne and certain liquors.
