this is not Star Trek

Hey kpowers, if you don't like the new Trek shows, then you'll HATE this.

Did we need a Rick & Morty type Star Trek? No. We didn't.

What I would like is a cartoon called Star Trek Universe. Every other week it woud focus on one the series, first TNG, then DS9, Voyager and Enterprise. You could even have episodes of characters from TNG, DS9 and Voyager together. I'm sure most of the actors wouldn't mind doing the voices for the series. What do you think DjThunderFunk?

Hells yeah!

My pitch would be: Stick with live action, Go back to cannon (everything made between 66-05), the setting would be approx. 15-20 years after Nemesis and the finales of DSP & Voyager, instead of a series I would do TV movies and mini-series, I would do them much like your cartoon pitch, different charaters and settings pulled from TNG, DS9 & VOY, separate or mixed up, and just tell new stories with these characters at this point in time. This pitch would require ignoring ST: Picard as an alternate timeline.

After a year or two of that, several movies or minis a year, maybe one every few months, THEN I'd do a new series, also in cannon and still live action, set approx 100 years after the TNG/DS9/VOY time period, a NEW generation on board a new Enterprise, in cannon and respecting of established continuity. Basically "The Next Next Generation" in every way except for actually calling it that.

lol It definitely needs a better name. biggrin

Other than format (movies & minis instead of a cartoon), my phase I doesn't much differ from yours. I think Star Trek works best in live action, there's no need to dumb it down for kids or make it silly, which is what so much animation seems to aim for these days. I could see doing animation for a story set in a time the actors are too old for now, like a TOS story with the original cast (minus those no longer with us). Your thoughts on my phase II?

Well I think the cartoon would be the first step and yes don't dumb it down for kids. Have it like how the animated series was. Yes I agree with the whole live stuff as well. I would love for them to bring back Enterprise. Season 5 would start off about fixing the crappy ending of Enterprise of killing off Tucker. The season 5 premiere episode would be that some one associated with Gary 7 has to fix an error in the time, the death of Commander Tucker was not supposed to happen, because of people going back in time it does upsetts the time line, that's why Gary 7 steps in and corrects the time line. Yes Cannon 100000%

STAR TREK CONTINUES answers some questions from fans about their ...

On July 31, 2014, Rod Roddenberry attended an official screening of "Fairest of Them All" in Las Vegas and endorsed the project, stating: "I do have to say, and I said this after 'Lolani', I'm pretty damn sure my dad would consider this canon. The fact that you do stories that mean something, that have depth, that make us all think a little bit, I really think he would applaud you guys, and I applaud you guys, and as far as I am concerned, it is canon. So thank you."

Hey Djthunderfunk got a question for you. Well we all know about 7 of 9 replacing Kes on Voyager but what if Kes never left the show? Because of their life spans being 7-9 years long I always had a feeling Kes would have died towards the end of the final season. What do you think?

Wasn't that the original plan? I don't know. It would have been creepy watching her grow "younger" while being in a relationship with Neelix. Plus, I like Seven better, so, I'm glad it worked out the way it did.

I think the Ocampca (Kes's race) age faster and not turn younger. Well waan't sure if that was the plan or not. Yes I like seven better too, I think everyone does

Well she was 2 years old but for an Ocampa that's a good portion of their life span.

It's much better. Written for TNG fans. No ridiculous changes to the original storyline. Centers around Data and the Borg. Interesting it's plays out so much on Earth. Love the way they incorporated Romulans.

I just started rewatching SW Next Generation again. This group is my alltime favorite.
It takes on more of family(community) feel and the stories are very mystery driven and character exploring.

I wish for a Klingon based Star Wars series. Not these reptilian looking Klingons(I cannot stand that)
Worff and the Klingons and 1/2 Klingons of that series and the cultural and diaspora was wonderful.

It might. You can see Stewart has aged quite a bit. Much more slow paced, more mature people in it. I can't binge it but it does have a warm comfy look and feel while I am watching it. I'm getting a kick out of seeing what living on Earth would be like and when they showed a digital image of TNGs enterprise it hit all the right notes. I'm not sure if they can or even need to carry that into future seasons but it does feel like someone gave a hoot about the (maturing) fans. I can appreciate that for as long as it last.
