Is It Time For Football Yet?

I'm ready for the season to start!!

We signed Mahomes to a 10 year deal, I'm sure ya'll heard though. wink

Whew, wish I was making that $$.

Patrick Mahomes agreed to the richest contract extension in sports history with the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday. Over the 10-year deal, he will have the opportunity to earn $503 million dollars.

That is more money than anyone can ever think of spending in their lifetime. One may ask just how much the 2018 MVP and reigning Super Bowl Champion signal caller is receiving.

ESPN’s social media team did the math, and determined that Mahomes will make $1.60 per second, $96 per minute, $5,472 per hour and $137,808 per day from now until the end of his contract.

I seriously doubt it will be a full football season if these Covid 19 numbers don't go down and

people not take it seriously.

Do you think that some of the players will choose to sit out, like some of the Baseballs have?

I agree....there are 55 players to a team, plus the coaching staffs, the equipment guys, etc. How are they going to keep everyone virus-free in a violent collision sport like football? Not going to happen, and forget about the college game.

Once preseason begins in earnest for collegiate and pro teams, the national trends of new cases and deaths indicate that attrition will set in, and a lot of these teams will be put out of operation before the games start.

I'm not optimistic at all.

You hear of so many athletes testing positive (my LSU tigers had to sit out 22 player originally), but due to their youth and being in such good shape you rarely even hear of any hospitalization or fatalities. I imagine career ending injuries are the more likely risk for football players. The need safety is more for the athlete's families and the people who work with them that are more at risk. Several coaches are quite old. And then, there is no way I can imagine the typical drunken crowd of 100,000 + drunken Tiger fans cramming the stadium for 4 hours each game during the pandemic, and there not being a major community outbreak. Imagine all the droplets when a crowd like that is repeatedly yelling and screaming. It sort of sounds like a horror movie lol.

Yeah I think this season will be scrapped. Once a whole bunch of million dollar players start getting the coronavirus NFL will shut it down

I see next year they will only have about a third of the stadium seated and many of the sections closed off

So if there is no football, that means the Chiefs are still the Superbowl Champs. Right? lol

That's an interesting dilemma for all the in demand teams for both the NFL and College. The stadiums are mostly sold-out already for this upcoming season, so if they randomly pick games that you can and can't go to outrage will ensue. For me, I have LSU season tickets and can't even imagine being selected for the UT-San Antonio game (what they have a football team?) and then not get selected for the Alabama game. That would be similar to being selected for a preseason game in the NFL but not to get to go to a game that might decide who is in the playoffs at the end of the year. It will be interesting how this all plays out, but at some point it just doesn't make sense to proceed if there are too many weird compromises like that. For college, I rather an option for Spring Ball given there is a decent chance it won't be as risky then. Yes, it would take away from the other Spring sports, but at least you would get a football season. I am not sure what to think for this to be an option for the NFL given NBA and MBL would be in full force the entire Spring too.

until somebody else wins the Lombardi Trophy, and a player on the field screams unto the camera that he's "going to Disneyworld!", while confetti rains down on his head, yes the Chiefs are thee Champions

Hey with covid 19 everything has changed and season ticket holders will most likely have to end or change. I can't see any sold out stadiums anytime soon. Well TV viewership will be up.

Rumblings about "Sentinels" is going around the internet. But I wouldn't rush into it.

Makes sense. They did not have enough time to come up with a new team. There is marketing a copy right stuff they have to deal with as well
