Didn't really want to start a whole new thread so I figured posting it here would be good enough. So far there's been a lot of talk in this thread about the next generation of games consoles and what kind of graphical leaps and loading time improvements we can expect to see. All valid concerns, no doubt. But for me, it's always games first. I'm a bit late to the videogames party. Only really started playing a few years ago. Obviously, I had Super Mario World and Mario Kart growing up but then, who didn't? Once I entered my teens I just stopped playing games altogether (apart from the odd time I'd be babysitting my brother and we played on his PS2). After he grew up and left home (left the country, in fact) to work in the videogame industry he left behind his Xbox 360. After severely damaging my back doing something stupid, I was stuck at home for a while and started playing Mass Effect, a game I've always liked the look of. It's basically Star Wars but with a well written story. That game got me hooked and opened my mind towards thinking of games the way I think about movies and novels. I've always been a big movie fan and I'm an avid reader. And games, for me, are an extension of those interests. I love a good story and some of the best stories are found in games. The Mass Effect trilogy, The Witcher series, The Batman Arkham games, Bioshock etc. As good as or better than most movies. I love the sense of being part of the story. I used to act full time but gave it up after I had my daughter and playing these kinds of games feels like being part of that world again. Which brings me to the point of this post. Apologies for rambling on but I feel it's important to set the stage so my point of view can be fully understood, even if it may not be agreed with. But virtual reality, in the form of the PSVR, is truly the next generation of videogames for me. There is nothing more immersive than actually being inside the game world and physically taking part in the story. The PSVR is easily my favourite way to play. Unfortunately, there aren't enough games for it but that's not to say that there's a shortage. There's actually quite a few brilliant games available but they don't get much press so go unnoticed by most. Out of all the VR games I have and enjoy, Blood And Truth is my favourite. It's essentially a Guy Ritchie movie where you play the lead actor. Great stuff. But I think that's about to be beaten. A few days ago a demo of Iron Man VR was made available. I didn't expect much. Licensed superhero games are rarely good. But Iron Man VR is incredible. Nothing can match the feeling of flying around in VR, shooting armed drones, having your airplane shot out of the sky, falling out of said airplane without a parachute, turning into Iron Man in mid air, putting out fires and ridding the engine of debris and saving a damsel in distess from the plane just before it explodes. And did I mention all of this is in virtual reality? And this is just a demo. I can't wait to see the whole game. These are the kinds of experiences I want more of on the next generation of consoles. PS5 will likely have its own, improved version of VR. And if Iron Man VR is what the PS4 could do then I can't wait to see what's possible on PS5.

Backwards compatibility is the reason I'm sticking with PS3. I have a large library of PS3, PS2 & even PSX games that I still enjoy. Not thrilled about buying a new system just to play a couple of games (even if that game is GTA VI).
