RADIO SIGNAL COMING FROM INSIDE THE MILKY WAY DETECTED BY ASTRONOMERS Maybe it's just nature, maybe not. https://www.google.com/am...79%3famp=1 The first FRBs were discovered over a decade ago. Since then, scientists have been trying to work out what is causing them. Suggestions have included cataclysmic events, such as the collision of two neutron stars or a collapsing black hole. But these hypotheses were questioned when a repeating FRB was uncovered. A black hole can only collapse once, because when the FRB repeated scientists realized either there must be another explanation, or more than one source can produce these bursts. Time keeps on slipping into the future...

It's huge if they thought at first it was a collapsing black hole or 2 neutron stars and it's repeating, that would be a humongous pulsar. I guess it could be 2. It's unique or we are getting really good picking up distant signals. Time keeps on slipping into the future...

i read recently that there is growing evidene to support the theory that there is a black hole in our Milky Way Galaxy. maybe it comes from that somehow? | |

The more distant a radio source, the more interstellar gas it must travel through to reach us. As the radio burst travels through this interstellar medium, the signal spreads out in frequency. The greater this dispersion, the greater the distance. One of the main goals of CHIME is to observe the distribution of hydrogen in the universe as a way to study dark energy. Atomic hydrogen is the most abundant element in the cosmos, and it emits a distinct radio signal known as the 21-centimeter line. By mapping hydrogen across the universe, CHIME can tell us how the universe expands. This is why CHIME is built to capture a wide portion of the sky. Time keeps on slipping into the future...

Black holes aren't terribly rare, and it's likely that all elliptical or spiral galaxies have a supermassive one at their centre. Ours is called Sagittarius A*.
