Do you play any instruments?

What do you play and would you like to share a clip?

When I practice - I play piano and guitar. 🎸 I took some classes in college(almost 20 years ago). I learned to read/play notes.

That’s awesome! I play piano and read music too, but am lazy with it these days though a couple of years ago I made a bunch of clips for my social media

i have 5 guitars, piano, keyboard, harmonica and try to play everyday a bit of something. It used to be 3-4 hours a day when i had the time... Still need to get that bass though, and the drumkit, but i plan on both during the year.

Sounds exciting, hope you make more time again! Do you write songs too?

Piano/keyboard. I can also play guitar but I don't consider myself to be all that good at it. I just don't have the time, patience or enthusiasm for it anymore. I still play the piano though. Both professionally (though not often) and to amuse myself in my spare time (slightly more often).

All the schools are closed over here at the moment so I've been teaching my daughter how to play in her time off. We're just having a bit of fun but she's actually picking it up quite quickly.

Fantastic! Kids learn quickly. There should be more music classes in public schools, especially in grade school.

piano and keys

I played violin, cello and harp in school.

I've played drums for a hot second.

I've always wanted to learn guitar.

Keith Urban and Esteban sell guitars and teaching videos. I will buy a new guitar from one of them. I need to practice playing all the guitar chords.

I was fortunate to go to a middle school and high school that had superb music programs. Still in touch with one of the music teachers today.

My bass is always at my left in the home office.

When the groove is good, i'll snap it up and do my best to keep up!

I actually did a fun collab with a great singer i "met" here on the Org back in 2005.

We posted it on Soundcloud and it got a bit of attention!

My "15 mins" lol

Have played guitar for most of my life. Love playing the bass and drums as well but it's been a while since I've been able to get on a drumset.

I've always wanted to know: is the fiddle the same as the violin?

I love music with fiddles...listening to Sweet Amarillo on repeat by Old Crow Medicine Show

Yes, I believe they are the same thing but referred to as a fiddle for country/blue grass music and a violin for classical music.

I have Vague plans to learn keyboards sometime soon-ish. Anybody got advice on WHAT keyboard to buy? Like, how many keys (does that make a difference? It does, right? -scratching head- ) What model? I'd like the kind that'll hook up to a computer....

Bass guitar, trumpet(middle and high school) and piano. Learning the bass still. My wife is actually the proficient piano player. She hears notes a hell of a lot better than me. She can tell me which string to play my bass on if I don't hear it when playing tunes.

Don't laugh at my funk

There's so many youtube people giving lessons, I may start there first but that's just me.

Learning is so subjective and finding someone who clicks with you is the challenge. The other challenge is keeping your interest over the long term. A love of music and a good teacher will do that.

One thing I wish I knew when I was younger is that everything in life is the long game.

Like everything, music is practice, learn, play, repeat. Like every muscle without regular work will atrophy over time, so does a musician who doesn't practice.

Even if it's a half hour, just keep it up every day. Sucking is where everyone starts so don't be hard on yourself, just grind every day, talk about and learn and practice, practice, practice.

Most people who start playing and then stop (and say that they used to play) are typical because they don't see results fast enough and lose interest. We're used to immediate results but that's not how life works, you must put in the work.

Just my twocents good luck!

I'm a bit of a noodling, fumbling, player - but I play guitar. I'm trying to get better, and started an adult program at the School of Rock recently so I can play with others (theme: CBGB).

,

I'm doing private lessons online, but due to CARONA we haven't been able to meetup as a band. confused
