To me, Another Woman and perhaps also maybe The Purple Rose of Cairo are his only 100% flawless films. Every scene is essential and dripping with emotion.

He integrated those trademark Bergman-esque devices of reflection before and since, but never more masterfully and tinged with longing than in Another Woman:

.

Wow, maybe I need to give Another Woman another shot. Couldn't get into it.

.

My personal fave: Broadway Danny Rose.

So good, right? I love the way he had all those old comedians reminiscing about the fictional Danny Rose and then they flashback to the story. And making the film in B&W added to the overall feel of New York in 50s-60s

Yeah, it really is a beautifully crafted film. And Mia Farrow is so great, so different from her usual style.

I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

Agreed. I think this was her best role in a Woody movie.

Interesting comment, as she is Broadway royalty.

I give Mia A+ props for the attempt and an E for effort, but I think I'm one of the few who just couldn't buy what she was selling as that character. Close but no ceegar... there's a reason that character is completely out of her wheelhouse. It's like if Woody himself played the Javier Bardem role in Vicky Cristina Barcelona...

Honestly in general I find her acting pretty tepid, but I do absolutely love her in Husbands & Wives and especially absolutely in Alice.... Broadway Danny Rose is still a very very solid film, though.

I think Ronan's obsession with trying to take down Woody is just one long, "LOVE ME, DADDY!!! fit"

woody allen is not even his "daddy", and he knows that

Ronan wishes. I subscribe to the theory that he shows up to his bi-annual appointment to his plastic surgeon with a picture of Frank in his prime, "Make people think I'm related to this guy."

2 great films of his that are rarely mentioned are Zelig and Broadway Danny Rose. Forrest Gump owes a LOT to Zelig and BDR is funny as shit. Mia is amazing in it.

LOVE both of those. And agree re: 'Gump' (which, incidentally, I've never seen lol).

OMG YASSS! Broadway Danny Rose was brilliant! As is... Purple Rose of Cairo, Crimes and Misdemeanors, Bullets Over Broadway, Alice, Husbands and Wives , Manhattan Murder Mystery, Manhattan

His body of work really *is* impressive.

Woody's not still in Spain shooting Rifkin's Festival, is he? I hope he's staying under lockdown right now. We need the Woodster, I'm still having withdrawls from that extra year off due to the fallout from A Rainy Day in New York.

imagine if Spike Lee wouldve molested a 7 year old daughter of a girlfriend, and then had sex with and later MARRIED that same girlfriend's OTHER daughter, after having a sexual relationship with the girlfriend's other daughter for SEVERAL years...the outrage from "mainstream America" would be deafening... but not for guys like Woody Allen and Roman Polanski...they must have some sort of pass, or get some kind of privilege

woody allen sexually abused dylan farrow...or i guess the victim is lying again, huh?...or how about the court cases for Mr. Allen regarding his inappropriate behavior towards Dylan Farrow...but i guess thats what they call uninformed, these days...i could go and on about woody allen, but its already well documented...in court...but go ahead yall, forgive and forget, right?...or should i just copy and paste all of the information from the case presided over by the Honorable Judge Wilk:

In his 33-page decision, Judge Wilk found that Mr. Allen’s behavior toward Dylan was “grossly inappropriate and that measures must be taken to protect her.” The judge also recounts Farrow’s misgivings regarding Allen’s behavior toward Dylan from the time she was between two and three years old. According to the judge’s decision, Farrow told Allen, “You look at her [Dylan] in a sexual way. You fondled her . . . You don’t give her any breathing room. You look at her when she’s naked.”

NO ONE has EVER officially alleged Prince to have done ANY sexual hijinks with ANY underage girls..Mayte was 16...Dylan was between 2 and 7...Woody Allen was accused by not only the victim, but the victims mother, the victim's brother, the victim...and The Honorable Judge Wilk...now, who are these Prince Rogers Nelson underage sexual abuse accusers, other than your own imagination?...what judge presided over this case in your mind?...who is the accuser mother and brother?...did they see what Mia and Ronan saw?...you said i was uninformed....please inform me

Because he was not - after being investigated - charged with a crime. Dylan was examined and it was concluded she showed no signs of being molested. Not saying she is lying but there was no evidence.

Lots of people commit crimes they are never charged with. I am mystified why anyone would say they know definitively one way or another. We just don't know.

The Prince thing is way creepier if people take off their fanboy goggles for ten seconds.... And I thought Mayte was much younger than 16 when they actually met. Sitting back, lusting away, counting the days until she's 18 like we used to count the days until Christmas as kids. Premeditated action is usually considered a little bit more sinister than one of passion in every other life circumstance... unless, you know, you wrote "Pink Cashmere". Hey now, exhibit B, because grooming just ain't real grooming until you break out the expensive gift exchange... wonder what he got in return.

But classifying Annie Hall as "unrelatable" is the most offensive thing written in this thread thus far, bar none... Have you no soul, sir?

And I'm still the only other to comment on Moses Farrow's blog, just for the record.
