The Masked Singer - Chaka?

I’m not a gambler but I swear I heard Chaka Khan on TV just now belting out a country song like it was Happy Birthday, wearing a monster suit. Are my ears wrong?

I was right about Gladys in that bee suit.

Yes it is Chaka. I dont watch the show but went to youtube after reading this. So they dont disguise the voice while singing? I thought I remembered Patti's singing voice altered duing the one performance I saw? Or is that just how she sounds now? They did not diguise Chaka's singing voice none whatsoever. Too easy. I'm really surprised she's back to doing game shows after the Dancing With The Stars fiasco a few years ago where she said that was one of the worst decisions she ever made career-wise. lol

Totally Chaka. It's not hard to know her voice.

I never guessed Drew Carey until the day he was voted out. Lil Wayne was obvious, even as a disguised voice.

My other predictions:

Turtle: probably Jesse McCartney, but I thought it was maybe Chris Kirkpatrick at first

Kangaroo: possibly Jordyn Woods (thought to be Jordin Sparks before, but that's nixed)

Miss Monster: Chaka Khan ("presense of royalty" - friends w/ Prince, locker "10" - 10 Grammys, known for her hair plus she recorded a version of GCS's "Hair")

White Tiger: Gronk for sure. Figured that out right away. The "51 clams" and 5/3 on a board refer to his Super Bowl 51 and 53 games.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I dont know how I didnt catch it on her first performance. But when as soon as they played a clip of it. It hit me. Chaka?!. Once she started her second performance my mind was made.
Then the royalty clue

I'm pretty sure Robin Thicke knows who she is, but withheld his answer. If anyone throws her name out it will be him

When I first heard the robot sing I quickly called out Lil Wayne. lol

There is another clip of her sketching another monster. Chaka is a sketching artist. She also said something like will you still love me even if you didnt know my name? When Chaka was a child her grandmother told her one day the world would know her name. Thanks to "I Feel For You", everyone does. biggrin

She's also sketching a butterfly which is a hint to "Papllion (Black Butterfly)." The Queen chess piece is probably because she's the queen of funk. She also made a reference to "fire" at some point. "Through The Fire" came to mind. In the first show, there was a key with the word "fun" on it. I can't figure that one out. But the words "monster hits" in her locker was no small clue that she's had...wait for it.. monster hits.

I think Turtle is Joey McIntyre. One of the clues was that they were showing turtle in a school. Joey McIntyre was on the TV show Boston Public

I don't think he's acting like anything but himself. He's not tht clever, really. I remember seeing him at the Grammys or MTV VMA and they showed up a few times dancing. During the white tiger's first appearance, the body language alone looked like Gronk. They're only an inch apart in height. But Hulk isn't quite that limber, and I feel like his voice would be more recognizable than Gronk's anyway.

I'm already over group A because I've figured most of them out. LOL Bring on the rest!

Nah he is acting, even Jason Biggs thought so too. It's not rocket science, he's a competitor

I don't watch the show but, from my understanding, the studio audience votes? It's not about who is the best singer. It's about who is the most entertaining. I hear there is another character performing on the show who can't sing a lick but the audience is keeping him on because he is entertaining.

Maybe they should do one season full of celebrities that have just ok voices.

Well your thread is correct after all. My second guess was Tina Turner, also Gloria Gaynor was also a good pick as well. I think Chaka got bumped early because she was holding back.

Haha go me! So that’s 2 correct Masked Singer diva threads now. I didn’t watch when Patti Labelle was on but some voices it’s like you don’t need face or image to really feel it. It’s a fun show, really. A statement about visual interpretation and assumptions in these strange times. They could lose the judges, all of em, and it’d be fine by me, except Ken he’s so much fun.

So with Group B, here are some early theories:

Frog: Bow Wow ($100, $5, $1 bill - 106, he hosted 106 & Park; lefovers in a bag could be a nod to his 2nd album Doggy Bag)

Cat: Sabrina Carpenter (young singer and actress)

Taco: Tom Bergeron (VHS tapes = AFV, Rubik's Cube shape looks like Hollywood Squares; there's also a photo of Tom wearing an apron that says Tom's Tacos from DWTS)

Mouse: Dionne Warwick (the voice is a clear giveaway, 19 and 79 - ages she started and is now; "Warriors" is a take on Warwick, and 1979 was when she left one record company for another & there was some lawsuit involved around that time)

Banana: No idea (blue collar could be anything, but Bill Envall was thought; the blowfish could be a red herring because I don't think it's Darius Rucker)

Elephant: I guessed Tony Hawk just from his body language for some reason

None of the clues lean toward that. They all lead to Gronk. There's even a poster of a skiing cow. COW-SKI. GRON-COW-SKI Gronkowski.

Banana is now thought to be Bret Michaels. The blue collar isn't a reference to 'blue collar' stuff, but rather an actual dog collar. Bret has a line of dog attire at Pet'sMart called Pet Rocks. There was a shot of a cowboy hat which he wears a lot (when he's not wearing a bandana to hide his missing hair). The bus is possibly a reference to Rock of Love Bus.

Bow Wow is a rapper. He's been around since he was Lil' Bow Wow. I'm firm on Taco. Tom's voice and cadance seems clear even disguised. Banana I'm 99% sure it's Bret Michaels.

Yeah, I'm not sure where some of them come up with these out of left field theories, but we're not there in the moment.

Another Taco clue was the whoopi cushion in a taco shell. Whoopi Goldberg was the center square on Hollywood Squares while Tom was the host. (Gold possibly being the golden taco shell the cushion was in.) The kneeing in the groin is a nod to AFV. The female taco is about his wife. Bergeron has talked about having huge anger issues early in life and Transcendental Meditation has changed him. He started TM when he married his wife Lois. Every sign points to Bergeron. His voice is obvious when he sings. His body language is obvious (to me) as well.

Lucy Hale (don't know her) is being floated as the Kitty. Her character on Pretty Little Liars and its spinoff is an aspiring fashion designer. The Red Riding Hood nods were something about the show as well, and on her country album she has a song called "Red Dress." Now, Hale went on her Insta-story "shocked" at how many clues point to her and denied it. Of course, Patti LaBelle lied to Any Cohen that she wasn't on the show and viola - she was.

The contracts these folks sign is "the scariest thing I've ever signed" said Kelly Osbourne. The level of secrecy is beeeyond. So, if Hale is the Kitty I wonder about her protesting too much on S.M. and if she's trying to throw folks off. She could do better by STFU. Kitty is the only big mystery for me, so far.

The Prince references on the Frog's packages are not to Prince, but I guess he's called the Prince of the South or something? He had a former Twitter (or one exists but is unused since 2012) called PrinceBowWow. Bow Wow was also on CSI:Cyber; the C, S, and I keys on a typewriter were highlighted.

I hope there is another diva in Group C.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.
