i can no longer hold a pencil

Struggling with that very issue right now! I go to drawing first. Piece of paper and a pencil and I'm off. I want to do more painting though and just bought a pad, 11 x 15 in, 30 sheets, 140 lb cold press for watercolor. I'd like to develop skills and not necessarily in watercolor. And, I'd like to get bigger but that requires space. At least, I'm drawing every day. My requirement is 5 minutes!

If i didnt have to waste my time working so many hours a day; I definitely would do some painting very regularly. You can hide much better your non-talent in paintings than in drawings

I have two Fine Art degrees, and did generally a mix of painting and printmaking for those, but I draw more often than either of those now. It's more 'immediate' if you're in a situation (like I am) of not having a huge amount of free time outside the office.

That's cool. I wonder if I'd chafe at the size limits, if I had an iPad. I like the reduced carbon footprint aspect. No need for a studio. Or a storage place. No toxic pigments. Do you love it?

There's still nothing like real paint, charcoal, pencils and the mess that comes with it because it adds to the experience of creating something but...

Adobe Fresco on the iPad is next level for oil and watercolor. Water color; control water flow and drying layers. Oil paint abilities to mix color live on different substrates, it's amazing. Then the masking along with a ton of brushes with controls to tweak on each of them, lots of possibilities.

Haven't add any size limitations other than it slowing down a little on a huge canvas.

There's 2 specs that make a digital image "huge" - Physical size (18" x 24" is a standard poster) and then resolution, which for printing is 300 dpi (for monitors 72 - 100 dpi).

When I reference "huge" that's what I'm referring to as I typically will build art at 24" x 36" at 300 dpi which generates a files size of a gig or more.

My daughter requested this drawing of the elephants, for my grand daughter's room.

The 3 elephants represent their family, and I added the feather to represent the spirit of my unborn grand child. My daughter had a miscarriage during her first pregnancy, so this drawing has a very special meaning to all of us.

It is currently hanging on my grand daughter's wall. Her first of many drawings from Grandpa.
