The Bad - I hate Jar Jar binks and he ruined the movie. The pod race went on way to long, obvious they were making a video game. The good - Darth Maul is awesome in the movie. Also Ewan Mcgregor and Liam Neeson were great in their roles

Yup and that is why he was toned down for Attack of the Clones

I don't think Jar Jar was all that bad. The stepping in shit thing was absolutely retarded (Writing). The side trek that conveniently takes them "inconveniently" through the center of the planet? (bad writing) the Buster Keaton like comedic bit where Jar Jar inadvertently helps destroy those useless droids that never shot anyone? (bad writing, isolated cgi realm = bad writing)
the pod race is where I stop the damn thing every time I TRY (its only happened 3 times in ...20 years? to watch the fucking movie again... I might skip chapters to the last bits only to confirm that Darth Maul had the high ground AND a DOUBLE LIGHTSABER.. instead... he watches Kenobi fly over him (he could've twirled his baton) and gets sliced in half down to a conveniently placed core. ♫"Trollin, Trolling! We could have fun just trollin'!"♫

I blame the people who made the CGI Jar Jar Binks. They were just having fun on their computer, they felt like every scene Jar Jar had to do something "funny". I listen to some of the comentary and there was a scene in which Jar Jar was just standing there and they said it was so hard for them not to have Jar Jar doing something. For the pod race I think there are even more deleted scenes. Also let's not forget when Anakin "accidently" gets in the fighter and joins the battle, oh god who wrote that? But the light saber fight with Darth Maul might be the best Light Saber fight in ALL of the movies.

Though I do like the E.T's were in the Phathom Menace Kinda like how the new Battlestar Galactica added the Enterprise to the rag tag fleet

but that was not an intentional hint or build up, since the original movie was planned as a single standalone flic. and until today the only movie of the bunch that can be watched without the need of other films or a greater context. that makes it still standout today. and certainly the movie for new generations and kids as the pick for the first SW movie to watch
so those hints were not really hints. but of course the writers had to build up on something and on a story that was basically finished. and also in follow up movies there is always the need to add new things to keep the audience excited, I understand that. the down side, it renders some stuff from older movies illogical. why didn't Vader and Obi use levitation powers to throw things at each other in their duel? or Vader and the Emporer not commuincate with 3D-Force-Skype like Rey&Kylo but a fuzzy hologram instead? why not bring people back to life in the past? heal wounds? Holdo maneuver? and of course back then I loved the twist of Vader as Lukes father, cause it came totally out of nowhere. and back then I didn't think about the problmes it created (hiding a Skywalker from a Skywalker using the real name Skywalker on the homeplanet of Skywalker... Duh!)

as a small easter egg yes, I liked it too, like the C3PO+R2D2 hyroglyphes in Indiana Jones or R2D2 in Close Encounters of the 3rd kind but as canon it would make no sense whatsoever. it means the SW universe is the same as ours yet in ET Yoda is used as a halloween costume and SW is shown in the cinema

1. The Last Jedi
oh... so some things change pretty fast, 4 months ago you said this:
both Ep4+5 have fallen behind, just Empire struggles to keep ahead of TFA

[Edited 1/9/20 4:55am] That's right. Imagine a world where opinions can change over time. I could compile that list again in a few weeks and it would probably be slightly different again. For the record, I just watched all the movies again in chronological order just before seeing Episode 9. There were some I liked more than I remembered and some I didn't like at all. It's kind of weird that you went through the trouble of looking that up though 😂

oh I'm not complaining, you can change your opinion whenever you like. me too, and maybe one day I will see TROS as the masterpiece it truly is Has anyone tried unplugging the United States and plugging it back in?

I rewatched them all. The top 5 are all close: 1. Empire 2. Revenge of the Sith (underrated) 3. New Hope 4. Return of Jedi 5. Force Awakens 6. Rise of Skywalker 7. Clone Wars (very underrated) 8. Rogue One 9. Solo 10. Last Jedi (overrated) 11. Phantom Menace (horrific)

Lack of technology to have them do that stuff. . Vader and the Emporer using the hologram. There other Force users in the Empire and (universe) don't want anyone 'overhearing' or sensing. . . Darth Vader also tried using the Force to heal, but it required him opening up to places he didn't like revisiting. In the Legends novels, Luke had many Jedi Healers. . Tatooine was outside of the Empires zone, and Darth Vader refused to ever set foot on that planet again. (there was also a Jedi watching over Leia on Alderraan.

In "Dark Lord - The Rise of Darth Vader", Qui-Gon tells Obi-Wan Tatooine is the source of all of Vader's pain. He'll never set foot there for fear of re-awakening Anakin.

I enjoy Clone Wars too. Getting to see more Jedi in action, and more of the planet Coruscant. 3 Revenge of the Sith I think is better than both of them together.
I read the novels. The novels are better.

1. The Empire Strikes Back 2. Star Wars 3. Return of the Jedi
the rest I consider forgettable fan fic so I'll stick with my own canon with the 3 original movies and some old novels.

Right. There was a comic that came out, prior to Revenge of the Sith that had Vader confront Jabba the Hutt. But I think it's taken as an 'alternate' story. Yes. Although the Anakin you and I knew is imprisoned by the dark side. "I was wrong to leave him on Mustafar. I should have made sure he was dead." The Force will determine Anakin's future. Obi-Wan: Luke must not be told that Vader is his father until the time is right. "Should I take further steps to hide Luke?" The core of Anakin that resides in Vader grasps that Tatooine is the source of nearly everything that causes him pain. Vader will never set foot on Tatooine, if only out of fear of reawakening Anakin. Obi-Wan exhaled in relief. "Then my obligation is unchanged. But from what Yoda told me, I know that I have much to learn, Master." You were always that way, Obi-Wan.
