People with chronic pain/nerve damage I need advice

I'm going to see my doctor next week but I need some advice as to how to deal with the pain until then since I don't plan on taking ibuprofen every single day. They don't really help and you shouldn't take them on a daily basis.

But the pain is still there and forces me to lay in bed for the rest of the day when it's a 10 out of 10 on the scale.

Is there any other way to deal with it that doesn’t include pills?

I feel like I'm slowly losing my mind because of this. Please, I need some advice

There are many answers to help, and I don't assume to have them all. It sucks you're in pain and I don't wish that on anyone.

For me, with ongoing pain, I use CBD oil in a drink (like a coffee, or a tea). I use a 4X strength and it does the trick with only 3-4 drops. Every oil & every person is different. I don't like getting high, so I avoid all THC products (to each their own). So the CBD products are a great alternative for many.

Good luck. There is an answer for you somewhere. I hope you find it.

Depends on where the pain is and what caused/causes it. I have nerve damage in my lower back. Throughout my teens I did ballet and Irish dancing. Sure, I won a few competitions but it wasn't worth putting myself through it. I'd practice 5 or 6 hours per day, 4 or 5 days a week. One day I bent over to pick something up and I couldn't move. Fucked my back up completely. Doctor told me it was through wear and tear. Imagine being told that at 20 years old. I was on really heavy duty painkillers for about 4 years but they weren't really doing me much good. For me, yoga helped a lot. And stretching before and after excerise. My husband helps me a lot with that stuff. He may struggle to send a picture through WhatsApp but he knows what he's doing when it comes to excerise techniques and fitness. But there's no doubt loads of tutorials online you could look at.

Also, it's important to eat right. I've never been overweight so I assumed I was eating alright but I wasn't. You have to make sure your body is getting the right kind of fuel. Lots of fruit and vegetables. Lean meats. I've actually put on a bit of weight (before my recent pregnancy) since I started eating right and cut out the rubbish but I feel so much better. The pain is manageable and I feel a lot healthier too.

I have anxiety and take medication for it, is it safe to take that or should I first to a doctor about it?

The pain is behing the ear, exactly where the middle finger is placed in this picture. I have this pain for two years now and even though my doctor is pretty sure that it's a damaged nerve, we don't know what's the reason.

But a new theory now is my hypophysis wich could not only explain the pain, but all of my other health issues and honestly, I really hope it's the answer, cause I'm tired of the guessing.

I'll defenitely try to eat right.

I have a condition that clauses ttumors all over... So I live in pain.

I switch between ibuprofen and naproxen but even then not every day. I get offered, and have been accused of shopping for opioids ...but No Way. (Now I say: I treat with ibuprofen and naproxen I will not take anything stronger.)

But mostly I just use focus and visualization. I am suposed to get MRIs on my spine and brain... but Yeah I do not have $3000 I can just use on that....(knowing would not help much)

Keep the areas warm helps... being aware of how you move helps. So I often move or stand oddly...

Some times I will "Pre-moan" or say something like "Ouch" as I start to move or walk. This serves a distraction.

Def talk to your doctor about it. People do use CBD for anxiety, too. Your doc probably will speak against it, but sometimes it's good to find a second opinion. Research if CBD interacts w/ the med(s) you're taking. I know a person with fibromyalgia that CBD helps immensely.

Go to your doctor and have them examine you etc. There are no medical experts on the org.

Until you see your doctor, which is important, as soon as possible, it is usually ok to take anti-inflammatories such as Motrin/Advil (with some food only) for short-term use. Please read the instructions. No more than 600 mg three times a day unless you have kidney disease.

Sometimes it helps to alternate with Tylenol as it works on separate receptors.

The thing is that it doesn't matter how I move, cause there are periods without it and then nothing will trigger it. It's not a long period but it's sometimes like it was never there and then it comes back for a week or two, sometimes even longer.

I didn't ask for a diagnosis, I already have it. I was asking people who have chronic pain for advice on how to deal with it in a more natural way instead of pills.

I’ve heard good things about cbd oil helping if you want to go the natural route. I used to get a lot of pain too but it’s gone down after I made some lifestyle changes, such as better work hours and having a routine daily

Yea, I've dealt with this myself. It's been years, and I can't recall the shot that finally broke it. It was some type of pain med that also comes in pill form, but I received the injection. This was after everything from muscle relaxers and steroids did not work. At all. It sucks, no doubt. I felt like jumping off a tall building. Two things that were must haves for me at home were a good pillow and the heating pad. I've heard ice works for some peeps, but for me, it was the heating pad. Yes, a heating pad on the dome. All you can do is laugh at yourself sometimes razz. If I think of the name of the drug I was injected with, I'll return, otherwise, I can't recommend the heating pad and a good pillow enough. Oooh, and a comfy back rest. When you have severe nerve pain in your head, it can get worse when you lie down. In my experience, anyway. There were times that I had to sleep in a sitting position and a back rest helped with that. It's still uncomfortable as hell and you feel like you didn't sleep at all, but it helps if you can't lie down w/o exacerbating the condition.

Snap, just remembered...I received a Toradol shot. If it ever comes back at that level (10/10 on the pain scale, daily, all day), I am skipping all the bullshit in between that didn't work for me and going straight to Toradol again. That shit saved mah life, man. I've found that CBD products only work for mid level type pain relief. Severe pain, especially nerve pain, blows right through that shit in my experience.

I just bought a new pillow today, I've tried ice once but it got worse. But heating pads sound great. I'll also ask my doctor about toradol.

FYI-Toradol is the intravenous equivalent of Motrin/Advil. It is also an anti-inflammatory agent.

Can only be given in a hospital setting (intravenous) or some MD offices.

I still think taking regular doses of Motrin/Advil by mouth will be helpful until you see your doctor.

same here. But I have been dealing with it for 30 years. It is a bit of a balancing act and kind of pre moan... doing a little grunt seems to chage the pressures in a way to help prevent too much pain.

Don't rule out chiropractors or acupuncture. If you go to a chiropractor, try to find one that uses the Gonstead method. Dr. Gonstead believed in only treating the area that was causing the issue and leaving the rest alone.

What are these edibles?

Sorry to hear about this. I too suffered from chronic pain for a couple years in my neck and let me tell you the two major things that helped me is my water pillow (yes water pillow!) and taking Tumeric daily! Tumeric is a wonder drug all naturaul and works wonders for all sorts of ailments.

Good luck to you pray

I have some nerve damage in my hands and feet. Thought I was diabetic when it started happening but found out I'm not. The only thing left were the cholesterol pills. One of the side effect of statins is nerve damage. I stopped taking those and started taking more B vitamins and the pain has been reduced by at least 75%.

I had my arm crushed between a pallet and truck in 1983. The bones did not break but the I have nerve damage.

.

My advice is the same as Luv4u and Freaky's: Don't take advice from non-professionals and don't do opioids.

.

Make pain your friend. I am drug-free most of the time. Periodically the pain makes my fingers curl and shake - my friends called me "microwave". My hand is always in some level of pain and I can feel the border between which side of my ring finger is controlled by the damaged nerves and the side that is controlled by the normal nerves. Weather changes can increase the pain to the point it makes me sick - I can predict when we are very likely to have rain based on the changes to the pain. Just to make things worse, recently I have started to get arthritis pain in that hand's one good finger - the little finger. As this is the only finger with this, I think it is because it has been overused for the last 36 years.
