GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE

New trailer out for the new Ghostbusters movie. For those that don't know, this is essentially Ghostbusters 3. It's set in the same continuity as the original 2 movies, where the awful 2016 version never happened and follows Egon's grandchildren as they discover his old Ghostbusters equipment (including Ecto-1) after his death.

Bill Murray, Dan Ackroyd, Ernie Hudson and Sigourney Weaver all reprise their roles from the original but seeing as none of them feature in the trailer, I assume they will only be appearing in cameos. Which I don't mind. The original team are old men now so it makes sense for them to pass their proton packs on to a new generation.

I really like the look of this movie. Setting it in the same continuity as the originals and having Ivan Reitman's son on as director is ideal. I can't wait to bring my daughter to this when it opens next summer.

Not only Slimer, I think I saw the foot of one of those Gatekeeper/Keymaster dog things.

Hmm... this would work better as a series imo.

I wouldn't say no to a Ghostbusters TV series but I prefer the route they're taking here. Besides, I doubt you'd get Bill Murray if it was only a TV show.

Just watched the trailer again and noticed that the mine the kids go to has a sign that says "Shandor Mining Company" on it. As in Ivo Shandor, the designer of the building Dana Barrett lived in in the original movie and also the leader of a cult of Gozer worshippers. I wonder if his name appearing on the mine in the new movie is a nod to the original or could it be something more? Perhaps Ivo Shandor will play a role in the new movie? Not directly perhaps, but what if he laid the foundations, literally, for Gozer to return as the main villain.

Wow good observation 👍
I noticed what appears to be the Gargoyles foot too,
The return of Gozer makes sense. Then the remaining original cast come in and help defeat him?

Yeah, I'd assume it will be something like that. At first I thought that Paul Rudd and the mother of the kids would do some ghost busting too but now I'm thinking that they'll be the Gatekeeper and Keymaster that facilitates Gozer's return.

Another little thing I liked about the trailer was when the little girl is going through Egon's stuff, we see his collection of spores, molds and fungus.

Trailer certainly looked better than the horrendous reboot from a couple of years back (sorry ladies, but you got saddled with a dog turd of a script) ... but it didn't blow me away.

The attempts at "edgy" humour were a bit naff, "Remember that summer we all died under a table", and it would have been nice to get at least a hint at one of the old guys cropping up.

The Pete line, "call it fate ..." was a nice though, got a little lump going in the throat, and loved the use of the Ecto-1 siren matching the beats of the soundtrack.

What's this, a rebootquel trailer that seems to be honouring and building on the original source material rather than parodying, reinventing, appropriating or shitting all over it? I'm intrigued so far.

It's essentially Ghostbusters 3. It's a continuation of the original series starring the original actors and directed by the original director's son.

My husband just seen the trailer now and pointed out how similar the young girl is to his niece. I don't know how I didn't notice that. She's even got the same glasses 😂. I seen the Shandor Mining Company sign, Egon's collection of spores molds and fungus and the hellhound's leg on Paul Rudd's car but I somehow missed that the star of the movie looks almost identical to what is essentially now MY niece. The power of my observational skills knows no bounds. Lol.

Very pleasantly surprised at how good this looks.
