Danny Aiello dead at 86

https://www.cbsnews.com/a...019-12-13/

Great actor n in maybe my all time favorite movie (Do the Right Thing). So many quotables in that from him. Great in another film I really like (The Professional) also. All the classic actors going now ☹️🙏.

Just an incredible actor. "Do the Right thing", "The Professional" "Moonstruck" even the Madonna music video "Papa don't preach". He will be missed. A talent. "Do the right thing" would not have been the same without him.

^ True about DTRT. I couldn't even imagine Bobby D playing Sal (fine actor as well), which I didn't know was Spike's first choice until today (well yesterday) or anyone else for that matter.

May he rest in peace. He was an Italian-American icon.

Bobby D as in Robert De Niro? Playing Sal?

I would have preferred Danny Aiello , too, but on the other hand I could see De Niro playing Sal, too.

Sad to hear. Thought he was younger than that. Excellent actor, R.I.P

Unfortunate news. Danny was a great actor. One of my favorites. Also, i met him once, in San Francisco(maybe 20 years ago). It was a quick interaction. I was walking down the street and he was walking towards me. I realised it was him, and said "hey Danny". He gave me that street wise look, and then said "Hey". I told him that i enjoyed his work, and he said "thanks". He shook my hand and that was that. This was in the Nob Hill area. He was in SF doing a play.

Anyways, i was aware of his tough guy image(in media), but since his death, have read about some of his actual background. And Danny was the real deal. The guy had a interesting life.

R.I.P rose

Rest in Peace Bettie Boo. See u soon.

^^ That's cool Joey! Yeah, tough one to lose. He was in a lot of great pictures. Glad to see this thread. Saw Do the Right Thing in NYC the day it came out, hot summertime.

Daniel Louis Aiello Jr. was an American actor who appeared in numerous motion pictures, including The Godfather Part II, The Front, Once Upon a Time in America, The Purple Rose of Cairo, Moonstruck, Harlem Nights, Hudson Hawk, Ruby, Léon: The Professional, 2 Days in the Valley, Dinner Rush, and Lucky Number Slevin. He had a pivotal role in the Spike Lee film Do the Right Thing as Salvatore "Sal" Frangione, earning a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He played Don Domenico Clericuzio in the miniseries The Last Don.

Two great underrated movies that Aiello was good in -

.

HARLEM NIGHTS.

.

Once Around

I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

Yeah, it was pretty cool. I've met a few famous people while walking around SF. My usual greeting is "hey _____".

Anyway, i was just re-watching 2 days in the Valley. Danny was in it. It's a pretty good movie. Also he's in this movie called The Stuff. It looks like one of them 80's low budget horror movies(which i do like). I don't think I've seen it yet, so that's next on my list of Danny A movies to watch.

Ahh.. another gem from LARRY COHEN. A great allegory, done with humor. Prob have a hard time getting that stupid jingle out of your head, but it's a great one.

U lucky dog. (*getting to see it for the first time)
