Woo, this helped a lot because watching the movie helped a very tiny bit leaving major gaps wide opened, like the damned squids, like WHAT? And the classroom had a poster about squids and none of it made sense.

Yeah, what were those squids about? Everyone in that scene acted so nonchalantly when they
were falling from the sky. Perhaps they're not folling the movie storyline where Veidt framed Dr Manhattan for the NY attack. Need more info and episodes!

I understand unlike the movie, the comics had Dr. Veidt drop a godzilla sized squid on NYC to stop the escalation towords nuclear war. I'm assuming it's the shows way of saying they are in the tradition of the comics instead of the movie.

Now that I have some clue to what happened and why I'm cool to move on with the series. The upcoming episodes look exciting.

Absolutely! Maybe it's the government dropping the squids, to keep the narrative of the giant squid attack in New York going. The show seems to have a nice balance between the graphic novel and some aesthetics of the film.

There's a theory that that's the conspiracy theory within the show, we'll see how it'll play out. My question is given how cops have to hide their identity wouldn't Angela be highly suspect revealing that she used to be a cop in Vietnam to a classroom of kids, I'm sure some told that to their parents?

Well, there seems to be wayyy more to her character than they are letting on. Why would she hide the sheriff's drug abuse? How did they know each other so well? What is it their history? How is she such a badass? Where did they get the Owl ship? It's Damon Lindelof's usual way of doing business; posing a lot of questions. I hope we get some of them answered lol.

I assumed whatever he snorted wasn't illegal maybe a medication of some kind, it definitely threw me off. You found a few more questions. Hopefully epi2 has more answers than questions. I'd like to know how she's going to run a bakery and do her police work at the same time. Maybe that's why the sheriff had to snort, faking 90-11 jobs takes a toll on a body. All I know is that panda head better be washed this next episode.

I love that this is disregarding the movie and calling back to the actual graphic novel. Fans were pissed of at the movie dropping the squid!

I liked it even though I haven't read the comics or seen the Watchman (2009) film. I just wish they didn't kill Don Johnson's character off in the first episode sad he was amzing and I loved his version of People Will Say We're In Love from Oklahoma. Most def gonna watch the rest of the season because Regina King is so awesome nod

New questions but I'm not so anxious about this time I know the answers are coming. I finally noticed (and laughed) that her husband's name is Calvin.

I just noticed her husband's name is Calvin that gave me a tiny chuckle. So I'm assuming everyone on the police force is psychotic, including her. I'm kinda liking the Russian guy, pure nuts on steroids. I'm missing the significance of that tv show everybody's watching but the preview warning is a trip but I'm guessing Topher has experience enough reallife bad stuff no use sheilding him from tv stuff. So is the old man the hooded guy? Wrong eye color.

Watched epi1 again. New question. Angela in class talking about egg whites there was a shot of Dr. Manhattan destroying a castle, which looks like the same castle Ozymandias lives in, which looks like the same castle model Topher was building in epi2. Thoughts????

Late to the party as always! Didn't know it was based on a comic book or that a movie had been made.

=============================================================

Didn't make it all the way through Ep1 because the squid stuff almost made me barf.

=============================================================

Don Johnson usually plays the heavy in his recent movies (like a redneck sherrif so I was expecting this to be a cover for him) still trying to figure his MO

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The egg whites demonstration to me was steeped in some sort of racial symbolysim--but I wasn't sure who it was for or against.

==================================================================

Random thought: Beat those egg whites into moutains with sugar then add the yolks and drop of vanilla and you've got egg pudding. I grew up on the stuff! No one will make it anymore!

I guess I'll have to watch a bit closer to get in to it.

Westworld took 3 episodes to make sense

Style is the second cousin to class

I wasn't crazy about the film, but the new series isn't bad. I caught the recent one ("Space Junk") and was blown away to see Jean Smart. She went from playing a nice, sweet southern belle (TV sitcom "Designing Women") to a foul mouthed, take no sh#t badass in "The Watchmen". Jeremy Irons is great too and I'm glad to see Regina King.

I'm loving the unfolding mystery of the show, each episode pulls me further in. Enough gets revealed each episode so one isn't completely lost but enough stays hidden to make me curious enough to come back each week. I want an owl now just because.
