Now that the season finales have taken place. I don't think The Righteous Gemstones should follow Succession, despite their similarities the textural differences are too vast its jarring when your paying attention, even grating on the nerves. This was the first time this season i watched each episode's back to back and I literally had to force myself not to change the channel. Then half thru Gemstones I was able to re-adjust and get into the show. It swings really hard at making fun of religious people until the buffoonery is just too stupid. But there are gemstones, to pun, that make it worthwhile, mostly coming from Goodman's character. We'll see next season how it goes.

Anybody seen Watchmen???

I haven't yet because the first epsiode doesn't air in the US until the 20th.

lol Yeah, I found that out when I did an actual search last night. Big ooops.

WKRP in Cincinnati - Season 1

This is one of my favorite sitcoms. Thankfully most of the original music used has been restored after the series was butchered for syndication. 4.5/5

Speaking of a cynical take on superheroes, has anyone watched "The Boys"? Outside of a deflated cliffhanger ending, this was one of the most entertaining things I have seen lately, fueled by the overexposure of Marvel/DC movies (although they did make the hilarious sendup of the whole thing with the Deadpool movies).

It had Karl Urban in it, that's all I needed to know.. Actually I did enjoy it but what do they have against dc heroes?

What We Do in the Shadows - Season 1

Not quite as good as the movie when the premise is expanded over the length of a TV series, but still very funny--and worth watching for episode seven featuring a vampiric council consisting of guest stars reprising their past vampire characters (Tilda Swinton and Evan Rachel Wood being the most notable). 4/5

The Deuce - Season 3

This was a consistently excellent series which ended beautifully. The last scene in the finale admittedly left me a little misty. 5/5

There are TV series on Netflix. Which was the last one you watched?

Ripper Street. Amazing detective series.

I was in season 1 of Ripper Street. My entire part ended up on the cutting room floor biggrin

Did it end up as deleted scenes on the DVD?

Not that I know of but I honestly can't say for sure. To be honest, it never even occurred to me to check. I doubt it though. To be honest, I hope not.

I'm watching Nancy Drew also (read all the books as a kid and liked the '70s TV show). It has potential; I'm hoping it picks up the pace plotwise as the series develops... I thought Buffy The Vampire Slayer dragged at first but I became a big fan during later seasons (the same with Star Trek: Next Generation). I'm wondering what a CW Hardy Boys series would look like... lol

I've tried to watch Catherine the great but I'm not feeling it. Mirren is a fabulous actress what can one really say, Still after having a great anticipation for it I've grown blah about it. It feels so Diana Ross and the wiz I think, maybe not, the critics love it. Still simply based on my mood 2/5 since i have to rate it.

I'm watching but still have yet to see the mid season finale. Of course people have already

spoiled it online about Ghost. But I'm still going too watch.

The one I'm currently watching now is Greenleaf. I'm halfway through the season but have

3 episodes to catch up.

Hell I have to catch up on Black Lightning too. I've yet to watch an episode this season

Since it's the CW Frank Hardy will be the adopted son and Joe will be the gay son.

Or the other version would be The Hardy's. The premise, Joanna "Jo" Hardy, a lesbian and a former Navy seal, teams up with her adopted gay brother Frank to solve mysteries.

I saw the first 2 eps of The Mandalorian.

It is a little short and I think it is a bit unbalanced on tone. I do not like the reveals very much. I worry they will take that too far. Leave that alone!

They are also short! I want at hour! (the first 2 should have been one--and between the 2 there is at least 10 mins that was not all that necessary and even smacks of fan service.)

Ad Vitam(French tv show Netflix) 3/5. About in the future a regenerative technology allows people to live young(30yo) practically forever and the despondent youth(under30) that get left basically in limbo. Strats with the investigation of some teenagers who committed suicide. Another futuristic show netflix I'm enjoying the concept I'd like to see the US twist on it.

Grandchester: PBS / ITV

I've always liked mysteries shows and novels, especially those coming out of UK. Grandchester has one of the finest ensemble cast of actor's I've seen in sometime.

What I like about UK produced shows, they understand less is more. The mystery series centers around a detective and Vicar, co-partnering in solving crimes. At first though this duo between a Vicar and police officer wouldn't be believable,, but the superb writing and acting really skews the reason why this couldn't be plausible.

Note: James Norton (Vicar Sidney Chambers) who played the Vicar left in the 5th season of the show. At first, I thought Mr. Norton character was irrplacable but the new Vicar Will Davenport (played Tom Brittaney) has made a seamlesss transion.

Lost In Space (the new one)

After years of illegally downloading Netflix exclusive shows I've decided, "fuck it, I'll just get Netflix". So, after having a bit of a browse, I seen a remake of Lost In Space, something I never knew existed. I wasn't sold on it until I seen that Molly Parker from Deadwood was in it. So myself and my cousin settled down to watch the first episode. 5 hours later we found ourselves halfway through the first season and within 2 days we'd finished it. Now, it's not a great show by any means. It can be very, for lack of a better word, "American" at times. But it's a good, solid sci fi story with some really good special effects. Special mention to Parker Posey as the villainous Dr Smith too. She plays it as a villain who doesn't really believe she's bad but doesn't really care either.

Season 2 is released on Christmas Eve so I won't have long to wait to see how the story continues after THAT plot twist.

Overall, I'd give it a solid 3/5. Good performances, good writing, Great effects and great villain. Plus, it's got a robot. What more could you want?

MARS (Netflix) Watching the 1st episode I thought I was hooked, I loved it. It blended real documentary details with futuristic storytelling but then the following episodes, while still using that technique, started becoming the typical space adventure suspense drama story so much so I don't see how a series could be maintained without it becoming utterly ridiculous very soon. Ive lost interest before completing the 1st season 2.5/5
