Deadwood - Season 3

So many great things and a few question marks for this season. Like what happened to the Earps? I thought their introduction would lead to a bigger confrontation in or near the finale, but they disappeared midway. And I anticipated Langrishe's theatre troop to factor more into the overarching story involving George Hearst. Speaking of whom, similar to Boardwalk Empire, when historical figures are featured as villains in period dramas like these, it's a bit of a spoiler knowing at the very least they won't lose in the end. Argh. Overall still a very good third season, but if the movie wasn't already queued in my digital media player, I'd say it was a frustrating finale with all the open-ended plots. 4/5

I haven't watch any full series lately, but the ones I'm ready to dig into are (they are either continuing or new for me, no repeat binging):

Castle Rock (new season next month)

VEEP (new viewing)

The Good Place final season (on the DVR)

Family Guy (Sunday!)

Greenleaf (it's like black Dallas, instead of oil it's religion)

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

There are TV series on Netflix. Which was the last one you watched?

I gave season two the same rating. The season one finale and all of season two make the entire series worth watching.

We'll never know for sure what role Langrishe and his theatre company would have played had the show not been cancelled and that's one of several dangling plot threads that isn't resolved in the movie. But I kind of like that. The movie's setting is Deadwood, 10 years later. You feel the passing of time, you know that all these characters have had exciting moments in their lives in between season 3 and the movie, some of which are referenced explicitly, others only hinted at. I won't spoil anything but I will say that the movie is the perfect ending to the whole series, although the door is still open for a possible return at some point in the future.

Jane Talbot. I was a prostitute or I used to be a prostitute, don't remember which. I only had 2 or 3 lines. I still have the script lying around somewhere. I did a scene with a friend of mine called Emma Rigby. I played her character's friend in it.

I've never actually seen any of that show. I was in one episode (which I was cut out of) and I was on the set of another episode which I think was one of the last ones in the first season but I've not seen any of it. I heard its pretty good though.

Watched the first 2 episodes of the 3rd season of 911. I have enjoyed the series but I think this will be the final season. We had a ball, we laughed so hard. Im sure a volcano is going to explode soon this season, actually I said the 3rd episode there'll be a volcano but no it'll be some kind of inferno though. Imma have to dock it some, granted i don't know what storyline they could tell that hasn't been told before and pull viewers in and not be out and out corny. 2.5/5

I love Veep. I really love it but it started out as political satire and by the final season it kind of pales in comparison to real life. How can you do a spoof on politics now that the real president of America is basically Frank Drebin from The Naked Gun. So I can understand why you might not feel the urge to keep watching.

I usually love stuff like that, and I love the Naked Gun (and Airplane!) type stuff. But VEEP - I guess it's just not my thang.

Undone

Trippy animated sci-fi drama about time-travel starring Rosa Salazar (Alita: Battle Angel) and Bob Odenkirk (Breaking Bad). I'd love a second season and hope it's confirmed soon. 4.5/5

I frikkin love Succession even though a good percentage of the time I have no idea what the heck is going on, which makes it so good it commands my attention because I HAVE to know, no looking at my phone or thumbing through stuff. Roman is great. Shiv is dynamite. Kendall is my favorite right now, it shifts, because you really don't know what he'll do next, he seems so weak but not. They all, even the supporting characters, are flipping complex and multidimensional, not just stereotypes And this is supposed to be a comedy?? Its funny but not laugh out loud funny, there's no punchline factor. I get it executive produced with Will Farrell but nothing about it is slapstick silly. This is drama and nobody goes around murdering anybody. Tonight is the season finale and I can't wait to see who'll be the "blood" sacrafice for the company.

Now that the season finales have taken place. I don't think The Righteous Gemstones should follow Succession, despite their similarities the textural differences are too vast its jarring when your paying attention, even grating on the nerves. This was the first time this season i watched each episode's back to back and I literally had to force myself not to change the channel. Then half thru Gemstones I was able to re-adjust and get into the show. It swings really hard at making fun of religious people until the buffoonery is just too stupid. But there are gemstones, to pun, that make it worthwhile, mostly coming from Goodman's character. We'll see next season how it goes.

Anybody seen Watchmen???

I agree with your numbers. 4.5/5.

I think I want to stop here though. *spoiler* Before somebody (not Dad) else becomes the bad guy while she continues to refuse her medication.
